Alas you are probably not going blind. For some reason along time ago I got used to running my monitors at max britness and contrast... it meant that I didnt have to use night vision in any games ;-)

However I keep forgetting that when I do my image editing, so my images tend to come out darker than they should. - Apr 11 2006

Now this is just a bit of a mind bender, but if you look closely at the larger image it actualy Linux.

You have to step away to see it though ;-) - Apr 09 2006

Thank you for the suggestion, when I do a single monitor rendure I will deffinately up the contrast. All of my monitors have it cranked so I tend not to notice the lack.

As for distro, I run Gentoo64. I used to run Mandrake along time ago, but Gentoo is just so so fast (after you spend the 2 days installing).

Unfortunately distro plays almost no role in setting up a multi-head system since almost none of them have an easy config util. The one thing it is heavely dependant on is vidio card manufacturer.

Setting up multihead on an ATI system is simply hell on earth and tends to be very flaky. If you want to do multi-head try to use an Nvidia card, they are extremely easy to setup. If you are setting up multi-head across several cards (which is what i do), then try to keep them all from the same manufacturer and in the same product family, just for sanity sake.

Yes I do understand your confusion over the size of it.

I run a tripple head system at home here and since no one else makes any images for a tripple monitor system I have to make my own (this is the best one I have done so far). I share them for the 1 or 2 other people in the world running tri-monitors.

Therefor the sizing is (1280x3) 3840x1024. If anyone wants a single monitor version it will only take a few minutes to change the res and re-rendure it.

The specs for my machine are:

2x Opteron 244
4x Kingston DDR 333 ECC 512 stick (quad channel, do to the Opteron memory controller)
1x Tyan K8WE
1x BFG 7800GTX OC
1x Asus 6200 (never buy asus!)

3x 17" monitors *(I got these for free though)*

Total cost for just the tower, ~3700CAD... Explaining to they parents why they must now pay my tuition: Priceless!

As for the picture, I know the collors blend in a bit to much. I am very much new to this and I am really only doing it because no one else makes and tri-monitor desktop images.

Thats what you get from a Mechanical Engineering student ;-)

I was thinking about doing a 1280x1024 single monitor version but it would be very simple to produce 1600x1050 - Oct 20 2005
