Does this 'mod' as you call it use the plastik code from CVS? I know there's been some (drastic) performance improvments and other bug fixes in the last 2 months. It would be very good if you based your codebase off of that if you haven't already. I'm only guessing since you have categorized this style as compatible with >= 3.2 ... so ignore me if I'm wrong

BTW, I love the look of it :) - Dec 04 2004
Kate Snippets

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by Erdling 16 comments

Kate in CVS has a new template system. I believe the current shortcut is ctrl+shift+alt+T :). It tries to follow the same template definitions used in eclipse. If you use a custom implementation to do this yourself, perhaps you can rework it to use the new template system which means your work can get accepted into Kate itself :)

I haven't had a chance to play with it yet but I hear it also lets the user TAB around the various inputs required for the template. So you might have something like if ($condition) { ... } and when you insert it, the $condition part is automatically highlighted etc... - Oct 27 2004
Improving KDE

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by andrunko 313 comments

There's several bugs within that are wishlist items for such features. One is bug 47633.

There might be a separate one for rounded selection as well. If the patches are attached to real bug reports, they usually get more attention by the people you need to get this accepted into KDE.

FWIW, qt4 will offer better options for drawing alpha'd rectangles and rounded selections I believe. You may get some push back because of this. - Oct 13 2004

A few comments

1) The up and down arrows look a bit too big. Could they be smaller?

2) It's hard to tell visually where one input control ends and the other begins. Perhaps enclosing them a'la WinXp ( would help distinguish them. Yes, i'm talking about nicely shadded boxes around them.

3) What kind of information will be displayed here and how will it be accessed. Yeah i know i'm getting ahead of myself but it's got to be considered. - Aug 20 2004
AKDC Beta3 preview 2(see changelog)

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by jrch2k 357 comments

I've been watching the progress of AKDC and I love it :)

Very good work. I definately think a notification should be sent to the KDE guys in charge of shipping the window decos and such.

Those 4 themes pictured are absolutely amazing (I use the 2nd from top at home on my windows machine). They look alive, they're vibrant, they're modern, and they're very polished. - Aug 05 2004

Furthermore, there is something called 'kifi' in kdenonbeta which seems to do what this tool and the other do.

I've not tried any of them, but 3 separate apps with 1 already being in a position to transition to the a real kde module (kdenonbeta -> kdenetwork) seems a bit over whelming. - Aug 01 2004

Thanks :) I was looking for that just now actually.

Perhaps this should be configurable using the superkaramba context menu like the rest of the options? - Oct 26 2003

Did the .33 release of superkaramba make it 'ontop' by default? None of my regular desktop windows can cover superkaramba themes now. Surely this wasn't intended. Can we disable this?

Running KDE CVS if that makes a difference with the new kwin and all ... - Oct 25 2003

I guess that's where you get xml data. You have to sign up for it but it's free... not sure how this would work now. - Oct 15 2003

KDE 3.0-3.4 Themes by ceebx 233 comments

The 'thumb' handles on scroll bars are too subtle with the color scheme (default) from kdeartwork CVS.

My suggestion would be to make them much more apparent/darker/deeper/whatever :).

Currently I can hardly see them but my eyes and brain know they're supposed to be there. Then what happens is that I kind of notice they're there (every so slightly) and have to refocus my eyes on them because they're really distracted by this point. Messes with my brain :)

Thank you for my new default style and deco! - Sep 12 2003
