Beautiful, my only real complain is with the arrow icons for, for instance, nautilus... the whole "inset drawing" thing I think has a negative impact on usability... arrows with a distinct obvious outline I think would be better. - Jul 12 2007

Ubuntu is the "hot distro" right now. I remember back when Gentoo was incredibly popular, this 'problem' derived from their community most. I don't really see a problem with it, though I would much prefer to see generic GNU/Linux (or hell, *BSD,) wallpapers. - Feb 04 2007

I can't say that I agree with the level of hostility you display, HOWEVER...

I think this could be made into a general statement about all Linux distros. It's just happened that Ubuntu is the one receiving the most attention at this point in time. I remember a plethora of crap LOL GENTOO branded wallpapers on this site back when that was the hot popular distro.

This site really needs more content that is truly open-source/linux/GNOME oriented. At this point, any moron could just hop on deviant art, download a cool looking wallpaper, and plop a $DISTRO logo on it and have no need for this site.

As a side note, your insults towards the Ubuntu community specifically in your "changelog" are completely uncalled for. Every distro has suffered the problems mentioned at one point (probably with the exception of some of the more mature noncommercial ones like Debian and Slackware, but I could be wrong, since I was not involved in open source at their inception. - Jul 01 2006

When I first say Ubuntulooks/Human, my first thought was, "wow, that'd look amazing with the Clearlooks-cario scrollbars instead." However, laziness took it's toll, and I never got around to it. Glad someone else did it so I didn't have to :P - May 25 2006

I agree with this entirely.
Actually, in my ~/Pictures/Wallpapers folder, I have two subcategories to deal with this... "Distro-specific" and "General Linux." I think this site should do something similar, except perhaps retaining the "GNOME" wallpaper classification like it currently has. - Apr 04 2006

I'm a gay male, and in general I agree that there's too many [female] nude pics with logos stamped on them, but for once this one actually looks very artistically done and worth the title of "art." It's a refreshing change from the 'lol boobs'-type wallpapers I've seen on here in the past. The logo fits very well with the image, and the color scheme is overall very even. It's also encouraging that the artist has made a best attempt at getting the photographer's permission.

As a sidenote, I think something should be done so that people don't get caught by this stuff unawares. This should be a work/school/family-friendly site. Perhaps make it an account option to show adult images? - Mar 01 2006

I've always liked industrial's coloring, nice to see it applied to the Clearlooks engine.

Still Life

Beautiful theme, very simple, clean, fresh appearance.

It's application iconset is fairly complete, and the default GNOME icons look "good enough" alongside the Still Life ones that any gaps aren't a big deal.

You may want to fill in the holes presented by the new OpenDocument/Oasis formats with just symlinks to the old OpenOffice format type icons, as I have. Adding in icons for audio file and video file formats would be nice as well, even if they are generic to start with. - Feb 04 2006

Let me clarify that I mean no offense to the artist whatsoever. I think it's a very well done drawing. I honestly don't know why I thought for a moment it took "it" too far, whatever that "it" was. Kudos to the artist, and my apologies for the misunderstanding.
Incidentally, my fox avatar is male (like myself,) just happens to look somewhat femme (like myself :P) - Dec 05 2005
