Could you put that back up or possibly on one of those free image hosts?
I would also very much like that background but haven't seen your ftp up in the last week or two.

I tried e-mailing but am not sure if it htit your spamfilter or you haven't had time to answer. Anyway please let me know if you got one or two e-mails last saturday signed g.d.
Meanwhile I have been testing 0.26 and the matchtasks is no longer working. What settings do I need to change to get this functionality back ?
Thanks for the great program and I will try and make some themes for you shortly. - Feb 03 2005

Icon Sub-Sets by cjtown 9 comments

I like the idea you have employed, however it looks very much to me like a cakebox spindle of CDs. If perhaps you added some hd reading heads in there or didn't make the case round it would look more HD like?
Also many of your icons go for photographical likeness which I think is lovely. Your HDs are an exception. Perhaps you could use your previous style for them as well. You could have a standard photographic rectangular HD with a window on top, showing a tux, winflag, globe etc... on the top platter through the window. I haven't seen anyone use that concept before for icons so you would still be original.

Network by jstamp 805 comments

To go along further with this suggestion you could allow icon themes.
To simplify the number of icons you could use something along these lines:
- ppp: phone
- network: cable
- wifi: tower with waves )))

Then incoming would be an arrow pointing down, outgoing would be an arrow pointing up. Disabled would be grayscale, enabled would be colour.

This would make it so you had only 3 icons really for each type only with small variations for the different states.

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by netfranz 43 comments

Yes you are right. I eventually solved that problem but forgot what it was caused by and forgot to post back. I am having the same problem as you with it showing the same window over and over again and it happens in both SuSE and Gentoo. There is another program called komposé which is designed to do the same things and it does the thumbnails accurately but it isn't as fast as skippy (yet) so isn't useable as a taskbar replacement (yet).
The developper seems very responsive and talented so I expect soon for komposé to answer all of our needs !

KDE 3.5 Themes by thomas12777 1262 comments

I am not sure if this is a mistaken setting on my end or a bug. I just emerged baghira 0.4c (newest in portage) and all menus flicker/blink when they come up regardless of their behavior. I have tried two menu effects, the default Fade In and then Downscroll and they both exhibit this behavior:
a) Menu appears instantly likde KDE default.
b) A fraction of a second later the menu effect takes place overlaying a new menu on top.
If this is a bug, is it fixed in 0.4d, if it is a bad setting would you happen to know how I can fix it ?

Cheers and thanks for the continued marvelous efforts !

In your blog I see that rpm's are now generally available for everyone. Is there any chance for an ebuild for Gentoo ? And possibly getting this into portage ?
Thanks for the hard work, I look forward to trying this. Skippy works a bit spotty and slow for me, and now that I am using Xorg, if you used EliasP's suggestion of handling live screen updates like SkippyXD, it could even make your app better.
Vielen Dank, Merci Beaucoup, etc...

Well the SuSE rpms for this are available here:
http://guru.unixtech.be/rpm/packages/Utilities/skippy/

But unfortunately I get the same error as phretor under SuSE 9.1 with scroll_lock as bind key, suggested on Skippy's homepage for KDE users.

Any ideas anyone ?

KXDocker with REAL Transparency

KXDocker by stefano 154 comments

Well after a bunch of googling a found the culprit. These errors are being caused by stale autom4te.cache files in the tarball. So the solution is a simple:
# rm -r autom4te.cache/
in the folder this was unpacked to, followed by another make and you should be set to go.

Cheers, I am off to see how I like this new toy (I last used osXbar 1.0.20)

Hope you get net access back soon,

osXBar

Karamba & Superkaramba by stefano 169 comments

I have now had the opportunity to play around a bit more and am really liking this theme. I have a couple of questions about the battery script. I use APM on my laptop instead of ACPI since ACPI can't be used. The KDE KLaptop program works great, how can I make this function work in the osXBar with APM instead of ACPI?
Regarding CPU usage, it seems to report as running only 0.8% (superkaramba osXBar.theme), however the CPU usage of X increase from about 1% to 20% when I open osXBar. Is this normal? I am running a Pentium Mobile 1.5 (Centrino) with 512mb DDR ram. I am going to see if by any chance speedstep is incorrectly enabled and limiting my processor but my cpu utilization seems higher than everyone elses so I thought I would comment about it. I disabled all scripts except trash and battery.

Thank you I didn't have expandall enabled so didn't see your comment. I downloaded that replacement file and now it runs.
I did however forget to download the themes and icons so I have a large blank area in one place but I am working on fixing that right now.
I am also now manually going through the config file looking at the options to remedy anything else. If I get stuck I will report back otherwise I will try to avoid asking silly questions.
Thank you for the wonderfull work and I will let you know as I progress.
I love the new osXBar.configure2 by the way ! The only thing I can imagine adding to the configurator is a description of what each option is but I can imagine that is a lot of work for little return. I just am not sure what say bounce and micro do differently without trying them, which I will do ;) !

Thanks again !

What is new is the getwcd error and the fact that it reports that it is 1.0.20 instead of 1.0.19

Seeing the kdeglobals error I went and looked at the Desktops section. Names hadn't been defined so I defined names but it didn't help. There was however no Number entry under [Desktops]. I also tried setting VirtualDesktop as 0, a set number, and commented out but it didn't help either. I am short of ideas... Any suggestions anyone ?

The configuration was smoother than 1.0.18 so although it still won't run I am seeing improvement !

KWinAcqua_Mod SuSE 8 RPM

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by redmac5 9 comments

I installed this RPM in KDE 3.1 / SuSE 8.1, however had to ignore dependencies for it to work.

The dependency in question is for a file called libGLcore.so.1 which according to rpmfind belongs to an nvidia package.

This WinDeco works fine with the dependency ignored but the incessant conflict warnings are very annoying. Is there any reason why this needs that file since it seems to work fine without it ? If the answer is no, would you be able to tell me how to modify it to not need that file and thus eliminate the conflict ?

Thanks and Cheers for the wonderful WinDeco,
