1. Add yawp to a horizontal panel that is at the bottom of the screen and that is the whole width of the screen.
2. Configure a city (say New York, NY in accuweather). Keep all other options default.
3. Once the weather for that city is displayed, increase the height of the panel.
As you keep increasing the height of the panel, eventually the popup will appear embedded in the panel on top of the far left temperature (I did not see this until the panel was at least 93 pixels tall, but try increasing your panel as large as you can if you have to).
Here is a screenshot of what I see:
http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w587/toddrme2178/yawp2_zpsa3421586.png
After you see this:
4. Reduce the height of the panel (make the horizontal panel thinner). Once the height drops enough that the popup no longer appears in the panel, it then appears in the upper-left corner of the screen. Here is screenshot of what I see:
http://i1331.photobucket.com/albums/w587/toddrme2178/yawp3_zpsaf428288.png
The upper-left corner of the screenshot is the upper-left corner of my screen, the small thing in the lower-right is the corner of an unrelated plasmoid. - May 16 2013

If the panel is narrow when the widget is added the problem does not appear, but if I add the widget to a narrow panel, then make the panel wider the popup in the panel appears. If I then make the panel narrow again the popups then appears in the top-left of the screen.
I am using KDE SC 4.10.3. - May 15 2013

As for translations, I am not sure. Even if the language files were just in their own svn or git directory it would help a lot. - Oct 24 2011

Usually in cases where the library and other components live in the same tree, the library and other components can be built in one go. Then the libraries are split up from the other files using sub-packages after the build is complete. I am pretty sure both RPMs and DEB files support build multiple packages from a single package description file (I know RPMs can).
The advantage of this is you can have clean separation of the shared library and non-library rpms or debs while only needing a single tarball, a single package description file, and a single build.
The same is true of localization files. These are almost always built with the rest of the software and then split off using automated scripts that search for the language files, tag them with the appropriate language data so users can find them, and put them where they need to go (either in the main package or in their own package, depending on how big they are). This is one of only two pieces of software I know of that expect users to download, tar, and build the language files separately.
So as it is now, it is very difficult to package. The stuff that you are having packagers do by hand is usually done automatically after the build using package description files.
For most package you just drop in a tarball, change the version number, then start the build. With this package you have to manually do multiple individual steps using a GUI interface. That make it easier for users at home building for themselves, but much harder for packagers. If you would like I could provide a spec file to show you how, at least for RPMs, software like this is usually structured.
In my case it is even more difficult because I am using open build service, which can be set up to automatically download the latest git snapshot, update the version numbering, build the package, and publish it with a single button press. This is ideally-suited to software like yours where the master git branch is always stable. But because of how the package is structured, this is impossible. Especially with how the language files are divided up in separate directory trees that all have to be downloaded separately, it is impossible to automate the build process. Currently I am just not building the language files. - Oct 23 2011

The important part is the "closed tab" button towards the middle (the green recycle bin). You can see the arrow is much smaller than the flashgot one above and the session manager one below.
It appears the problem requires two things:
1. The icon does an action on click but also has a popup menu
2. The icon is in a sidebar
The session manager icon only has a menu, there is no action when you click on the icon. That is why it doesn't have the problem. The flashgot icon has an action and a menu, but it isn't in the sidebar. That is why it doesn't have the problem.

1. Playwolf doesn't work very well in very large panels (high horizontal panels or wide vertical panels). The buttons become tiny while the sliders and album art become huge. I think that if the panel gets very large playwolf should just switch to the desktop form factor.
2. The buttons and progress bar expand with no limit as the widget grows but the text stays the same size. I think the text should grow with the widget up to a certain point. while the buttons and slider should not get above a particular size and height, respectively.
3. Using the next and forward buttons in the playwolf widget seems to break the lyrics extender. This only happens if you drop the lyrics on the desktop, and only if you use the back and forward buttons in the widget. Leaving the lyrics in the popup and/or controling the songs from within amarok works just fine. - Oct 24 2010

2. Maybe a different name might be good then? Playwolf, as best as I can tell, is named that because it is designed to work exclusively with amarok (which uses a wolf logo). If playwolf elements is designed to work with other software as well, then maybe a different name would be better so as not to confuse users. - Oct 20 2010

2. Great.
3. Also great.
4. It is a button playwolf has. I just thought that since this is called "playwolf elements" I would expect it to have at least all the elements playwolf has. I guess there is no reason you couldn't have both, though.
5. Yes, I tried. It did't work.
6 & 7. Great as well. - Oct 19 2010

I have some unrelated suggestions:
1. It would be nice if we could disable the place background on the individual items.
2. For instance with the folderview widget there is a "shadow" around the text that makes it easier to read. This might a solution to the earlier concerns about readability.
3. I personally prefer playwolf's slider, it would be nice if this was an option.
4. It would be nice if there was a button to open the Amarok window, like playwolf has.
5. It would be nice if the label supports html code for formatting.
6. It would be nice if the slider could be set to handle progress or volume.
7. It would be nice if there was a lyrics elements. - Oct 19 2010

I do have a suggestion, though. It would be nice if there was an option to change what sort of containment the widgets were told they are in. So for instance many widgets will behave differently if they think they are in a panel than they do if they think they are in a desktop.
So it would be nice if users could set your widget to report different containment types to the widgets inside it. That way, for instance, someone could put desktop widget in a panel, or panel widgets on the desktop. You could even allow people to set whether the widget should act as though they are in a vertical panel or a horizontal one. And if there are other types of containments that also change widgets' behavior (like the netbook containment or mid containment), this would provide even more flexibility. - Jul 23 2010
I think it would be great if dekorator supported this as well, so people just see a list of decorations and pick the one they think looks the best rather than having to download, install, and manage dekorator themes in a different way. - Jun 08 2010

I do have one request. I don't know if it is even possible, not to mention feasible, but if it is I think it would be really useful. The idea is that, as an additional middle-click option, middle-clicking on a group of tasks displays all the windows in that group using the "present windows" kwin effect.
The normal task manager does this, the effect is triggered by ctrl+left click, but I think triggering it using the middle click would be better since it doesn't involve the keyboard. See below for a description of the implementation in the default task manager:
http://www.notmart.org/index.php/Software/Plasma_and_KWin
A related question: does smooth tasks implement this effect at all? ctrl+click does not seem to work for me with smooth tasks, so I was wondering if it was triggered in some other way, or not at all. - Mar 07 2010
