Al final he conseguido hacerlo funcionar, extrayendo en urs/share/themes y dándole permisos de lectura-escritura. Aunque veo que no está del todo pulido, la verdad es que está genial. Enhorabuena, espero que sigas trabajando en ello.

Una duda más, ¿cómo puedo usar la versión clara de la imagen?

Uso Ubuntu 12.10 con Unity ¿Es compatible con GTK 3.6 y la última versión del motor "Unico"? Parece ese tipo de problema.

That is weird... try to extract it in home/.themes

In muy Ubuntu Tweak is listed at the end of the list by the name "renix-gtk-master". - Dec 25 2012

I have not tested, but I think it doesn't. Because Ubuntu 11.10 uses gnome 3.2 instead 3.4 and an older version of Unico engine. Sorry man, time to update ;) - Aug 23 2012

Sorry guys, I have tried to add padding but the theme gets broken. I am not the original developer of the GTK theme (as I comment in the description) and honestly, I only know how to tweak some things in GTK3 themes. Thanks for your comment. - Aug 20 2012

Oops, you are right. There's been a problem uploading the new file in the server. I have uploaded it again. Download it one more time, select the theme and restart Unity to apply the changes. It must be right now.

I have changed the prelight colors of metacity and unity themes to red, green and yellow. I hope this change makes the theme more usable.

It inherits the action icons from Faience theme (you must also download and install it if you don't have it yet). I think this theme can be used with both dark and light themes, but try it yourself. - Dec 03 2011
