Lanthys Icon Set

Icon Sub-Sets by eriol 39 comments

I love this icon set your working on. IMHO I suggest that you do a FULL working KDE replacement set. KDE will NEVER have the respect it deserves in today's world of
beauty over substance, until it competes
on that same level, pushing the envelope
and delivering FORM and FUNCTION cojointly. Right now, KDE looks like it's icons are design for a Fisher-Price toy. The icons for KDE need polish and refinement and I think you're heading in the right direction. Think beauty and and and function....... - Jun 30 2005

KDE 3.0-3.4 Themes by ThEOnE 25 comments

What we need now is a sunken Smooth Stripes Gloss, Sosumi & Mafia... When linux gets the "look" of XP/OSX themes-styles-skins...whatever, then things will begin to change for the better. As I've said before linux needs to look like a ferrari coming out of the gates, not a kia with pre-school looking colors/icons and or themes. - Oct 24 2003

We need ports of some of the more nice OSX themes like Smooth Stripes, Milk, etc. Maybe you guys could get with Max Themes over at
for a little help/ports/guidance. Linux needs to look like a Ferrari coming out of the gates....Keep up the great work! - Oct 18 2003

Karamba & Superkaramba by chip2003 71 comments

Why do almost all icons in KDE have to be
so damn cartoonish or just butt-ugly?
This seems especially true for "new" apps
people make. Could someone please address these issues or at least think about some
GUI changes folks? - Aug 11 2003
Karamba patched

Karamba & Superkaramba by donuthole 74 comments

Can anybody give Karamba the "rolling" elegance of say... YZDock in Windoze? Check it out. It has all these nifty effects, much like OSX but however still very different. Karamba could stand to gain from this sort of playful fun as well. Just my 2 cents. - Apr 19 2003

Read the whole post..... If "someone" were to use a more smooth look for the windows, like say a "pinball" look (go get it and look at it) then the overall polish and look and feel WOULD be better trust me... As far as aqua goes, I'm sick of "it" however, I absolutely love the realism that the "aqua-look" with regard to colors, has inspired. If you use that approach to say, win-decor the overall affect would be quite beautiful. However, this is again just an opinion. I'm sure you've got your own ;) - Apr 08 2003

I noticed some of those things particularly afterward. Thanks for the positive feedback. I changed a couple of things to enhance it once more. The flags at the bottom would be cool, I'm just too tired tonight ;) - Apr 08 2003

First, I'd like to say what a wonderful job your whole team has done with the distro....Simply wonderful.
I do like the polish of the Galaxy Theme itself as well. I personally feel like the next versions of MDK should be geared toward an evolution with regards to Galaxy. Maybe bring it around to a quasi "pinball" (theme for mozilla) mixed with the "aqua" shading, provided by making colors appearing "glass-like". Overall great job! - Apr 08 2003

How do you get the Kicker to NOT show the widget from the current theme your using. I'm getting a blocked out appearance right now and I'm using PNGS.....Hmmmmm - Apr 04 2003
Metallic Kicker Backgrounds

Kicker Panel by sabrex 3 comments

I personally think this is headed in the right direction. Kde needs to find it's own feel. Let's face it... OSX has the dock. It did not invent the damn thing though, so people need to get over the "imulation" thing and press on with the look and feel of OSX. I feel like it's got the right combinations of a logically laid out UI and SHOULD be a model for KDE. However, back to the metallic thing. KDE still needs it's own "vibe". I think that a metallic gradient that has a "morphed" look to it will do. Plus it would be incredible to see icons that were "embedded" in the kicker. Much more like the Pinball theme for Mozilla and the UI for Avid's DS-HD. If you had a more "fluid" look around the icons with a metal/glazed chrome feel like maybe liquid mercury the kicker would ..... KICK ;)
My two cents - Jul 13 2002
