In case anyone wants it, here's a dark version I whipped up in 5 minutes for my Lubuntu panel. - Feb 13 2012

I like STasks, but its sizing behaviour is un-intuitive and annoying.

Put it into a panel which should shrink and grow and watch it shrink and grow while the panel remains the same width. I don't want to have to choose between a giant empty panel at some times and icons too tiny to recognize at others.

Also, if placed on a panel beside with another widget that takes as much space as possible, there should be an option to only take as much space as needed. (eg. As it is, STasks takes half of the available space even though it doesn't need or use it)

Also, I couldn't use "expand" when STasks was in such a situation. The expanded versions of task entries flickered into existence on mouse-overand then flickered back to being icons before the mouse had even left. - Mar 31 2009

Is it possible to customize the icon? I really like the concept, but the green clashes with my desktop. - Mar 11 2009

This looks promising. Would you mind putting "remember mixer settings" on the TODO list?

That's the main reason I still let KMix clutter up my system tray. - Mar 11 2009

To fix the ebuild, apply the two patches from Gentoo bug 257495. (The former is the build fixes, the latter is one I put together to actually enable and install kdialogd4.) - Feb 05 2009

Would you mind rewriting kdialogd-wrapper so that it falls back to whichever version of kdialogd is available if the desired version isn't?

As it is, I had to sed "kdialogd4" into "which kdialogd4 &>/dev/null && kdialogd4 || kdialogd3" because I'm running KDE 4.2 on Gentoo and their ebuild always builds only kdialogd3.

(As it is, the wrapper just assumes that you've got the version of kdialogd which matches your desktop) - Feb 05 2009

IceWeasel is a GTK+ 2.x application. You have to build it with GTK+ 2.x support.

Here's a little recommendation of mine for ensuring that slotToggleState doesn't end up hiding your already-shown Yakuake (something that's all to easy for users on dual-monitor setups)

#show the terminal
if [ `dcop yakuake yakuake-mainwindow#1 shown` == "false" ]; then
dcop yakuake DCOPInterface slotToggleState

At least an SRPM is provided. Just pipe the output of rpm2cpio through cpio and then grab the source tarball from inside. - Jul 28 2006

Actually, I'm working on my own service menu to be distributed along with the Nautilus (GNOME) equivalent to service menus, and the script itself.

I'd have it up already, but it's taking longer than expected to solve an "unace freezes up when called from Konqueror" bug.

By the way, sorry for the delayed reply. - Jun 03 2006

Oh, and I also added support for properly handling tar files compressed with formats other than gzip and bzip2 as well as replacing the directory creation for zip files with something that only does it as needed and works for any archive format.

Just expect a shock if you look at the code. My coding style has been called everything from esoteric to awful. (I have a habit of using boolean operators instead of if/else blocks and cooking up shell equivalents for constructs from Python's standard library.) - Sep 05 2005

I got tired of unball's inability to deal with filenames containing spaces, that annoying but harmless error it displays, and the limited number of formats it recognized so I decided to improve it.

Long story short, I ended up rewriting it from scratch. My version should be drop-in compatible with the KDE menu entry but, since I switched from KDE to Xfce+Konqueror a while ago, I can't test it.

Anyway, it's at - Sep 05 2005
