Hello,

I have been using kaffeine for a very long time... early releases. and recently, I've had a problem. the frame rate is slow, image quality seems to be decrease. and the sound is super low. inaudible.

I thought it was a hardware problem. I tried turning artsd back on cuz I stopped using it recently. I check all volume... and today, I tried kmplayer with the same avi file I was listening.

magic: wonderful image quality and sound is loud and perfect. I'm happy it was only software problem and not hardware problem.

but I wonder why? any idea how to fix this?

thanks

- Jun 07 2007
i dont know either...
kaffeine is great and in my humble opinion, kaffeine is the only fully working media player... I use it all the time, even for MP3, and I never have any problem....

can't say the same thing about juk/amarok/noatun which cause me so much pain for near zero result.

for the tab interface, I like it, but its true that it use slightly too much space... If I could place the tabs on the same bar as the toolbar, that would be perfect. or even all three (Tabs, Toolbar, Menubar) on the same line.

thanks. - Apr 02 2005

new suggestion,
right now there is 3 different views.
ungrouped
grouped by virtual desktop

i wish I could have a view for unminimized windows only, across all desktop or not.

thanks - May 31 2006
first of all, I set my shortcuts OS-X like... F9, F10, F11(view desktop)

I'd like to ...

A:

1. press F11
2. select an icon on my desktop.
3. press F9
4. drag the icon still under my mouse cursor to a new application under kompose.
5. wait few seconds or press F9 again to exit from kompose
6. application under mouse cursor got focused.
7. I drop my icon whereever I want on this app ;)

B:

same, URL from firefox, URL from konqueror, etc. - Aug 08 2005
I would like to be able to use kompose under E17

unfortunaly, its really not compatible.

that'd be an interesting fix.

recently I've been trying to track down what is taking my memory. and today, I just freed up 275MB of swap simply by closing kompose.

is that normal kompose is really taking that much RAM/Swap?

I really love using Kompose and I use it all the time. I really wish you could be looking into this issue.

thanks

its a big hard to get out of kompose when there is no window when using the ungrouped view.

actually pressing F9/F10 again, should quit the kompose mode.

thanks - Apr 21 2006
may I request a rather important feature. I am currently strictly using kompose. I think its the point. if you got your windows-style taskbar you probably trigger kompose for the self purpose of showing it off... but I like to have a full desktop, with no kicker at all. and kompose is perfect.

one problem, I dont get notified when something happen in a different window. could kompose do something about that ? or is there another program I could use that would work ?

also, speed improvement would be appreciate.

thanks - Apr 15 2006
any plan to implement dashboard ?

i don't know how hard would it be to support apple's Widget, but worse case, you could create your own format of widget.

something easy that anybody can code.

less importantly, a smooth animation when get in and out kompose.

that be good.

thanks - May 16 2005
just to make a list of what I like to see in the future version of kompose

- window refresh in live time while in kompose (Apple Expose does it)
- smooth animation when jump in/out kompose (like or different than Apple Expose)
- Dashboard (like OSX 10.4)

I'm not sure if they have plan a Sound control module through the dashboard, but I really wish I could control my sound volume through kompose.

Hi there

my Skim is working fine, with all KDE apps and Firefox, but not at all with skype.

ctrl-space does nothing, trying to select it in a more manual way does not do much either.

anyone succeed using skim with skype? what's wrong?

when I type in Japanese with skim ...
does it use UTF8 or some other charset ?

I have a japanese windows here, but it can't read my file names I created in KDE.

also, IRC japanese channel requests people to use UTF8

could you help me with this issue. I'm so lost with charset stuff. - May 10 2006
this is usually how I fix skim when it stop working strangely. (because it happened before, yes) but right now, on my desktop, even this does not work anymore.

I tried again, typing

emerge -av scim skim scim-anthy scim-hangul

and it just does not work. I also tried uninstalling all scim/CJK related packages before to start fresh. without success. - Feb 01 2006

well, since I upgraded to KDE 3.5.0, I recompiled scim/skim/scim-* almost 20 times. It all work find on my laptop, but not on my desktop. I got scim-skk working once within those 20 times, but it was not exactly what my roommated wanted. scim-anthy which I use on my laptop, is great and works much better.

and I only have on gcc version on my computer. 3.4 though, that could be an imcompatibility.

when I go in the config, I can see english and japanese keyboard but when I click on dock icon, list is empty. when I go to the config again, it crash when I select the pane that should be showing available languages.

does anyone else has that problem with skim ? for a while it works 100%. and suddenly, after who knows what. skim keyboards list is empty. can't switch.

sometimes I've been able to fix it by recompiling few packages in some specific order, but I always do it kinda.... non precisely.

anyone have a real fix for me ?

PS: I'm using gentoo at the moment, but I had the same problem with other distribution as well.

why not those options could be selectable from the systray/kicker applet ?

like in osx and windows

windows = two icons - Feb 26 2005

1. I'll look into that

2. cool

3. could not the first toolbar be in the systray ? or a kicker applet ? or something not floating ? - Feb 25 2005
1 - i got CPU load problem with skim.... it really crank up and took all my ressources until it get to a load avg of 20... I kill it...

2 - skim has two toolbar, one which allow me to switch between romanji, hiragana, katakana and the other one that show me kanji choices for my hiragana..... would you please MERGE those... or better, show the second one right at the text cursor position and allow me to scroll within those easily...

why aren't your patch include in KDE?

some of the modification are actual bug fix. they really should made it to KDE.

look, design improvement could be a different style/decoration that can be downloaded separately. or a smaller patch that adds options to current style/windeco.

as for the arguments being quoted, its require if you use a * for a multiplication, as the kde run command will shell execute your line and the * will get interpreted and you'll send your directory file list to my script.

the idea is there is too many different app already. there is already a line calculation tool as a kicker applet. there is also dictionary kicker applet... i think all this should be one.

kde run dialog already has an history, type calc something you'll see this.
i'm not sure if it should be named differently. the basic idea was to have a quick calculator which display the result nicely. this can be renamed easily by anyone.

if you find out how to
do "sin/cos etc" in ruby, you'll be able to do it using calc. - Mar 26 2005
the idea is the result window
which a standard calculation in the run windows does not give you.

+, even if its called calc, you can actually do a lot more than simple calculation. - Mar 26 2005
