Konqueror "natural" file sorting (idea)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by lenooh 19 comments

Another file sorting problem is that punctuation terms aren't taken into account when sorting file names.
Have a file called "abc123" or "__abc123", that won't make a difference. Same with [abc123]. Or !abc123.
I feel the windows way of doing this (punctuation terms are placed before letters or numbers) should be imported into linux sorting -- at rare times, windows makes things better ;)

I wish such rules for files sorting could be configurable. - Jun 19 2006

Honestly, I feel this picture is more likely to start a troll-war than bring something constructive ;-)

I don't hate MS-Windows, but Microsoft's way of doing things, thus I disagree with that wallpaper. I still consider WindowsXP to be a product of great quality, even if I prefer Mandriva+KDE ^^

But after all, why not make such sort of drawings, it's not like Microsoft didn't do such things in a more serious way ! - Dec 04 2005

I upgraded KDE to 3.4.
Applied the patch.
And... it worked !

And it's one of the best functions in Konqueror, shame it's not present by default !

Thanks a bunch for writing that KDE improvement :o) - Oct 16 2005

I can't get it to work in my kde 3.3.2, sigh :( Konqueror recognizes that a supplementary toolbar exists (in the configure > toobars > a new toolbar has appeared), but that toolbar won't be available to appear while browsing files. Too bad :( - Aug 01 2005
