Hello, and thank you for the rating and comment. The topbar text is white, and the icons are the color of whatever icons you use. The app borders are two tone, matching the theme flavor's color for the base, wrapped in a very thin orange. This is the only way this well-tested and seasoned theme has ever been. The package integrity is well tested, so a corrupted download would be the thing I would guess. The way OS desktop configurations are set up matters, and so does specific availability within the package. That is not happening anywhere else I have heard of. The window manager may be influencing that, because the global theme text for Abyss is a white hue. GTK operating systems have the window and file managers coordinate a lot of the desktop specifics. Anyway, just do what the Xfce users via this link do to achieve white text. Cheers! - Jun 12 2020

Hi, I work on the team. The file that says "All other operating systems (including earlier GNOME)" is for earlier than GNOME 3.36. Hence, you need that one for GNOME 3.28. Cheers, Rikard. - Apr 28 2020

This is one of those new(ish) "mid-contrast" themes - and it is a personal preference thing. Keep in mind, it is the official - out of the box - theme for over a dozen distros; and for the last 8 months, there's been an average of 8,400 satisfied downloaders per week, so I don't think the boss is going to want to change what most people want. All graphics cards render themes differently, as well. If you really wish to lighten or change the color of the text; send me a person message and I will be happy to walk you through a few tweaks. It's easy, you just need to go to the app's launcher file and manually put in the icon path to your preferred icon. It is common to do when the preferred icon name is not being recognized an element, etc. If installed, globally go to: "/usr/share/icons/(whichever)-Suru" or if installed for just user, go to: (hidden file) "/home/user/.icons/(whichever)-Suru" and copy the icon's path you want to use. Then go to the app launcher - usually in /usr/share/applications ( or if installed for just user (hidden file) "/home/usr/.local/share/applications - and replace whatever appears after "icon=" with the icon's path. Hello, I am on the rtl88-Themes team, and wanted to share a search-link for these sorts of issues - they have some solutions there. It is hard to know why your panel recognizes some icons and not others. The consensus, however, remains to generate a new configuration file. Hmm... our testers use Reg PCManfm - GTK, by default; and at least one uses the Qt version. Moreover, you would be the first ever user to suffer such issues. This sounds like something to do with the variety libfm-qt challenges we are often made aware of. Issues from icon caching problems, to a variety of bugs, and other regressions are on the internet, concerning the Qt version, for users to hash out.

Importantly, you are receiving the exact same upstream package which thousands of users, via their distro's package manager (such as Arch), draw from. Polishing issues were worked out months before anyone here ever used these.

I am glad you provided us with visual proof this is a fake comment. Anyone can go to github and see the code - we never used dark text on any app menus - only an off white - it is there for the world to see in code friend. Hello eh8t, I noticed you started your profile just to comment on this theme, so I wanted to get right to you. I am a co-developer of it, and I wanted to thank you for trying the theme. The dark text on those elements is per Arc specs. We get complaints on the dark text sometimes, but when we change it, it becomes something different than Arc. See, the blue hue, value, and saturation are unchanged from original Arc, so that dark text shows up identical versus the original too. Both GNOME and Cinnamon shells have been re-tested since your comment, and they perform as expected. Anything you don't like is ether a personal preference or how your equipment renders it. On HD screens for example things look different versus standard, etc. Good luck with your theme search! - Nov 06 2019
This is an elegant theme. It is about the darkest scheme I have seen that provides the level comfort needed for long hours of coding. You know, to prevent eye strain. I used Coba back when it first came out, for a few days, I think I'll put it in again to warm me up in this chilly Berlin weather, it's starting to freeze at night now. Good job buddy! - Nov 04 2019

The below comment doesn't make sense, it doesn't' say anything except that it is from a jealous competitor posing to be someone else, or their associate. I am proud to be an on-and-off again developer for rtl88-themes, and this obviously fabricated comment doesn't match what we see here, with the rest of the comments, or the hard work I have personally put into making so many details of this theme shine. The competitor never even mentioned whether the comment was for light or dark mode, or what icons they were supposedly using. Thanks for trying the theme. The window border is supposed to be dark grayish, can you be more specific? Material doesn't, by default, necessarily differ between active and inactive borders. Anyway, I just tested GTK2 and GTK3 apps with the new build, on my machine, and it is performing as intended.
