But, why must you be such a tease! Why do you release this 'preview' and then never let us use these!

after seeing the picture again, I'd like to add...

replace your email address with www.sinn.org (where people can get ryan@sinn.org to contact you), then place a link to the shutterfly thing on www.sinn.org.

People who want your work, or to contact you will be able to without problem...and people will not be turned off by too much text on an otherwise breathtaking photo. - Sep 18 2005

yeah, nice picture... I can really see this on my background. Maybe I'd even buy it for my office... (although I donno...I'm kinda cheap :-) )

But do you really think anybody cares about the URL?
And if people really want to know the origin of the image, they'll look closely enough to see small font...

ditch the URL, and shrink your name and what not, then move it to the area vacated by the url - this does two things: makes your name stand out with smaller font (maybe some block font?) and leaves the image pure.

My $0.02 - please do the above, apparently, I will not be the only happy person :-) - Sep 18 2005

Sure there is an email symbol...you just have to be creative...

There is an envelope sideways in the 'K' - by nature of the shape of a 'K'.

The vertical bar on the left of the 'K' is the bottom of the envelope.
The two shorter angular bars on the 'K' are the flap, the envelope of course being closed...

Has anyone had the problem where the buttons on the title bar thing to keep the window above or below don't work? It's kinda annoying because I often use that functionality and I have to right click on the title bar...etc.

I looked at it a while ago to see if I could track it down & fix it, but I had no luck...

So, anyone else have this problem?

Also, when audio preview is in progress, selecting another file crashes konqueror.

Gentoo - Jul 19 2005

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by nunogomez 27 comments

If you only want certain things in your KDE Installation, check out Gentoo. Gentoo has split all the KDE packages into single applications. So if you only wanted noatun, then instead of installing the entire "KDE Multimedia" packages, just install "noatun" and ditch the rest of KDE Multimedia that is not needed...

This explanation by no means does justice to what Gentoo has done for installing KDE, go to http://forums.gentoo.org and to http://packages.gentoo.org
and look for the "KDE Split Ebuilds"

Now, this doesn't dumb down the configuration windows & what not, but does allow users to only install what they want...that is after all what Gentoo is all about... - Jul 18 2005

"KDE Improvement" ??!!??

I suppose removing options and things means there are less things for people to get confused on, *maybe* easier for people who do not want/can not learn...but that does not necessarily imply it is a better product, hence not an improvement...just different and perhaps favorable to some people.

I value the functionality provided by these 'unnecessary features' - I probably would not use KDE if were "Simple" (but that's just me). I'm okay with SimpleKDE, but I would like to strongly object to calling it an Improvement - From my POV it most certainly is not.

I am most certainly not discounting or objecting to your product or your goals. Only strongly objecting to calling this an Improvement.

And as a side note, the *nix SuperUser has always been called 'root' for longer than linux has existed. Why mask it with a username that truly does not exist in the system?

"How can I solve this ? Please ?!"

The first thing that comes to mind is to do EXACTLY what it says to do - get a newer or older version of gcc. Don't know how to do that? Neither do I, not for Red Hat anyway. Why don't you ask Google? - Jul 13 2005
