Yes, weather.com is a rapidly moving target. An application that I write for another purpose has been reading data from that site since 2004. It seems that every 18 months or so, they redesign the site and my other app would require changes to deal with it.

Like CWP, I've finally given up on weather.com. The other sources for such data may change the eye candy of the visual presentation but they keep the actual data human (and machine) parsable.

Thanks for all your work on CWP. It really is a great addition to KDE. - Nov 27 2014

Thanks for the heads up. Goodbye weather.com and hello to accuweather.com! Thanks to your very explicit steps, it's all good...indeed quite good.

As a former Nashvillian (from the other side of the river), I also keep tabs on the conditions there along with several other cities. For my old Inglewood zip, I use:

nashville-tn/37216/weather-forecast/16178_pc

Enjoy the nice temperatures in middle TN this weekend and have a great Thanksgiving, too.

Sadly, weather.com for those of us in the USA no longer works with CWP or much of anything else.

I can get to my location with this URL:

http://www.weather.com/weather/today/l/75035

...but the page is evidently not human parseable. It looks as if all text has been replaced by graphical images. - Nov 20 2014

Thanks...it's really a very well done, handy application and I've gotten to find it more appealing than the KDE3 "weatherservice" panel applet.

I've since hacked together a little Perl script that does the sorting (keeping the indices and zips in order) when the locations are sorted. Your work on CWP is very much appreciated and it's come a long way -- very polished and reliable.

I've only recently gotten accustomed to CWP (1.10.0) built from source on KDE SC4 4.12.2. I was quite fond on KDE3's kweatherservice panel applet and CWP is the only thing that comes close to its functionality -- particularly with the multiple locations. Still a bit hard to setup compared to the old kweatherservice applet but that's not germane to this comment.

What *IS* worthwhile is the display of location names. They're stored in entry order as opposed to collated by name. This can be manually adjusted in the config file but if CWP could do this out-of-the-box, I may have my only objection overcome.

I hope this isn't a dupe request. There's no search facility that I could find here. - Feb 13 2014
