I know if you're using XFCE you may set the size option to the number that corresponds to the color & size combination, for example, setting size to 16 gives you a 32px black cursor and 17 gives a 32px green cursor.
The 'size' option in the Settings is a bit of a misnomer ...... it's more like an identifier, like an ID, than a dimension measured in pixels. - Nov 16 2017
