PNG is a _very good_ format for lossless compression of pictures - generally it's excellent for using in places where you would otherwise use GIF, for example. The only thing I would not use PNG for on the Internet is photographs (JPEG is still the best) and other complex pictures, but for other things it's great and can compress very well indeed.
The general procedure on kde-look is posting a PNG unless the picture is too big to upload, in that case what many people do (and what I think is the best thing) is uploading a JPEG image and linking to a homepage where the original PNG can be downloaded.
Thanks again for the wallpaper, nice work. - Apr 07 2002

But: too many buttons. I don't know how to make IceWM decorations, if I did I would fix it myself, would it be possible for you to do a version that _only_ has Minimize | Maximize | Close in the top right? Even better would be a version with Close moved over to the top-left.
Just a suggestion, based on my preferences. Course, you could get around this by making a KDE-native version of the decoration... :)
Anyway, good work. - Mar 06 2002

I only noticed the 'jumping icons' thing last night, which I notice you've already fixed. Thanks very much for making such a good splash, it's FAR nicer than the default KDE one (I changed back to default recently just to remember what it looked like, boy is that ugly!). - Feb 07 2002

However, it is confusing having the yellow and green colored buttons switched. I tend to mouse-up there and just click the button rather than looking at the color first, so with this decoration I will restore a window when I mean to minimize etc.
Not a huge point, this decoration would be near-perfect if only the buttons went: minimize | maximize/ restore | close.
Thanks for making this though, goof work. :) - Feb 06 2002

However, after I'd applied your patch and recompiled, the problem was gone! I don't know how it was fixed but fixed it _was_ and Liquid now looks lovely.
One question: the leave_the_lines patch (forgive me but I can't remember the exact name) doesn't actually 'leave the lines'. It seems to do exactly the same as the standard Pablorg patch does... there are still no 'scanlines' on the kicker and menus when I use this patch. I have removed Liquid, re-patched liquid.cpp and recompiled, but it looks exactly the same as with the normal patch. I'm using MDK 8.1 and KDE 2.2.1, can you advise me about why it's not working, and suggest a possible cure?
Cheers. :) - Feb 05 2002

Great idea though! :) - Feb 05 2002
I do not have any fond programming memories because I've never written a line of code in my life - I like mwm because it's clean and clear, I love that 'chunky' look. Coupled with a nice bold font for the taskbar and a good color scheme, it's lovely and very very usable (problem with some themes / decorations is that while they look l33+ as hell for five minutes, they're just not usable over a long period).
Keep up the great work with GONX. :) - Feb 01 2002

Anyway a question. I used the last version of your theme, is it all right to do a straight # ./configure && make && make install on this one when I've downloaded it, or should I first # make uninstall my original GONXstyle theme - or would it make no difference?
Thanks. - Feb 01 2002

A request: how about icons for "open" folders? I can't remember the filenames, but they're the ones where the folder appears open, and contains a sheet of paper.
With that added, this set would be perfect IMO. - Jan 28 2002
