I tried scaling (2x) and this is the result: https://i.imgur.com/4Izve8V.png . This was done with System Settings->Display and Monitor->Displays->Scale Display. If you are using a different method to scale your display could you let me know so I can look into it. - Apr 25 2019

Updated. Might look at writing a userChrome for FF for better control of its colors e.g. get rid of light yellow text boxes and change the grey highlight on menus. - Apr 24 2019

I don't know why Aurorae follows the Plasma theme first. This is based on the other Reactionary themes which follow system colors but I might re-work it to stand alone (not follow system colors). The key colors are WindowBackground for the frame, View{Hover,Focus} for the highlights and Button{Hover,Focus} for the lowlights. Best you open decoration.svg in an editor and look at the tags from each element.
I'm curious however that it didn't work with Reactionary Plasma. Could you post a screenshot? Seems something needs fixing. - Dec 29 2018

You should (in theory) just need to update the Aurorae using the 'Get New Decorations' button.
If you want to install it manually, download the decoration https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1235540/ and extract it to ~/.local/share/aurorae/themes then open KRunner and run 'kwin_x11 --replace'. - Dec 29 2018

If you're using a Plasma theme that includes its own colorscheme then that will affect this decoration. Try switching your Plamsa theme to Reactionary or default (Breeze) to see if it helps. Could you post a screenshot for me to look at? - Dec 29 2018

Gherkins... luv 'em! Anyhow, there was a blank element left in the SVG which I've since removed. You just need to grab the new Aurorae (1.6) and all should be well. - Dec 27 2018

That's the attention colour. Red/orange is common through most Plasma themes. I tried using it only on the borders but looked bad. Open to any other ideas. Same with the green progress colour. - Oct 11 2018

Just updated. You might wanna run 'kbuildsycoca5' to refresh the image cache. I've had that text curruption happen a number of times, no idea what causes it: 'kwin_x11 --replace' always fixed it. Slackware, nice ;) - Oct 07 2018

QTStep Gradient

Plasma Window Decorations by abgr 6 comments

I used that technique in Culla and locus - a python script would get color from the current wallpaper, load a template SVG, substitute placeholders with the color, overwrite the current Aurorae (and Plasma) theme then call kwriteconfig to reload the themes. Reactionary was an attempt to simplify all that (for the user) by just relying on the desktop colorscheme and making all Plasma and Aurorae elements color aware. It took a lot of work editing the SVGs but it means a new theme is as simple as writing a new colorscheme. e.g., https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1255668/
Need to finish more win9x themes ;)

I tried translucent layers to create highlights and shadows but you're right, doesn't always produce good results. For Reactionary, I used view{hover, focus} and button{hover, focus} for border elements to create the highlight/shadow. Very hacky, but it means you can simply create 3d effect by setting those colors in the desktop colorscheme. But very boring work manually editing those SVGs ;) - Sep 11 2018

Don't know if it helps but you can use colorscheme gradients in Aurorae. Howto: https://github.com/KDE/svgmod although it is limited to two stops. I used it on my Reactionary Aurorae theme. - Sep 10 2018
