Thanks, i managed to post a reply on a comment above instead of this one but oh well. - Apr 13 2010
Thanks for that, all i needed was (class=Gnome-panel) and i knew how to do the rest. That does kinda make all the stuff i've done to my themes useless though :P - Apr 13 2010
I used to have compiz settings with a transparent panel but i forgot about it. I'll have a look at the settings. - Apr 12 2010
I did some messed up stuff to get it to work. First i took a look at the gtk files and took out a few lines i thought would take away the bg, then i used colour chooser and changed the Image BG for the panel but selected none and all the applets have gone the same transparency as the rest of it. Only way i could do it in a pixmap theme, I'll figure out which lines i took out.

And yeah, Picard is way better.
- Apr 12 2010
Those themes aren't image based so it's pretty hard to extract the right part to change in a image based theme. I just got Gnome Colour Chooser from your code, how do you change it so it's transparent with that? - Apr 12 2010

Someone notified me that the screenlets manager in 9.10 had problems because i hadn't included all the arrow graphics. However it should now work. - Oct 28 2009
hi everyone
small update today, it now has an emerald theme which follows the style of the metacity.
also I have changed the hosting from deviant to my website. I've only just gotten it fully operational, the download link is there, please take a look around, leave comments and if you want to keep up-to-date with all my work become a user or subscribe to the rss feed. enjoy - Jul 18 2009
hey, thanks, and that's oversword btw (:p - over-sword) it doesn't mean anything so whatever.
I actually made an emerald theme for it this morning would you believe it! I'll release it tomorrow along with a few other updates. thanks for the appreciation! - Jul 17 2009
sorry about that, I completely forgot. you're right, the settings are under something different, probably version differences. I must have figured it on my own. well, working instructions are in the description now, hope this works for you. - Jul 16 2009
hey, thanks
that pale panel was getting on my nerves too, that's why I tried really hard to change it, and I'm glad I did. as for the transparency, I found the tut on the page of a different theme... hmm
ahh, it was on the bluespace theme

a) Transparency:

1) compizconfig-settings-manager -> General Options -> Opacity Settings

2) Add: (name=gimmie_applet) | (name=gnome-panel) | (type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu | Dialog | ModalDialog) -18621

b) Blur:

1) compizconfig-settings-manager ->Blur windows -> Alpha blur windows

2) Add: (name=gimmie_applet) | (name=gnome-panel) | (type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu | Dialog | ModalDialog)

3) blur alpha - make sure the check box is ticked

4) gaussian blur - filter

I'll put a better version on the description soon.
as for the tool bar, it is a custom image, I couldn't put it as default in the theme because every body's screen size and icon arrangement is different.
I'm not sure I could make a 1-for-all, even a simple version with just rounded corners would be difficult.

but thanks loads for the appreciation anyway!
- Jul 14 2009
hi everyone!
new version today, I put a lot of things in it that I've been meaning to for a long time. the new range graphics were partially taken and partially inspired by the azenis theme. I un-rounded the corners of the buttons which makes them much cleaner aud easier on the eyes. hope you like it - and vote good!:p
- Jul 13 2009
umm, that was wierd ?!?
i don't think i can delete them.

Hey, just updated to 4.2, only minor changes to some little things, i haven't really had much time for this recently, i've been busy with other projects.

Thanks loads for the appreciation, i'd love to help. First off the taskbar, send a printscreen of you desktop (full resolution) to oversword@googlemail.com with your icons+stuff arranged exactly how you want them, I'll get cracking on a version for you as soon as i get it.
That wall paper and many like it can be found in my picasa gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/oversword/ArtRage
Some of them are good but a lot are just sketches and ideas, enjoy!
Also you can check out my flash based site:
http://www.oversword.co.uk/
I do a lot of work that's not just GTK2
AND i have yet another website where I keep updates on the projects I'm doing:
http://www.cam.oversword.co.uk/
But i'm thinking of changing the name so don't bookmark it yet :P.

Both the looks for those sites were based on my theme.
Please take a look around, leave some comments, tell me what you think, it's always nice to meet a fan :D

And with the theme, if you ever want to change anything or have any ideas please don't hesitate to tell me.
Thanks

Hi,
I've recently become aware that the deviantArt link doesn't work as i expected.
It seems to have trouble with multiple extensions (such as .tar.gz).
The other link should work fine like any other theme.
For the devianArt high quality one you need to keep extracting archives until you see the metacity and gtk folders. Then zip those up in a .tar.gz and install as you usually would.
I'll try and come out with a fix for this in a new version soon.
Tell me if the problem persists. - Jul 04 2009
Sorry for the delay guys, I made 3.8 a couple of days ago but didn't submit it. Before i came to submit it i'd already made some big changes, such as the addition of a Metacity theme to the package.
I thought these changes were so big that i jumped up to 4.0 as a substantial milestone.
Hope you enjoy
- Jun 16 2009
Thanks for the appreciation
as always any suggestions and improvements are welcome
:) - Jun 10 2009
ok i know what the problem is
open office doesn't show the icons when you're using a dark colour scheme.
The icons existence seems to be determined by the Window background part of the colour scheme.
The darkest value that the icons appear at is #272727 and my theme is #101010, much darker.
so I'm afraid i can't fix this because it would change the entire colour of my theme.
I've looked at many fixes online but none of them work. If i find a fix i'll let you know - Jun 10 2009
I use all the same software.
I don' use OOo that often so I'm not entirely sure what your problem is.
Are you using the icon theme I recommended too? cos that might have something to do with icons...
I have Writer open in front of me, you're right, I see no icons, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to TBH.
Are you sure you've checked all your tool-bar preferences and stuff.
If you can't figure it send a labeled screen shot to oversword@googlemail.com (me) and I'll have a look - Jun 10 2009
Glad you sorted it :P - May 29 2009
odd, i've never experienced that
i'm downloading it again to try it out
check your deleted items and stuff to see if you can find it, because it would be a hassle to download again.
i'll get back with more later. - May 29 2009
what?
i can't even get google to translate that - May 27 2009

I've been waiting for an update for ages!
This is great (again). The new icons are just what it needs, much better than the plain blue ones.
Thanks -- oversword - Aug 03 2009
Come on, i mean just, wow, like, ya know.
Awesome.

Very very very nice.
quite complete, although i definately notice the ones that are missing.

One thing i would change is the:
back
forth
close
plus
minus icons which are just big and plane and blue, what you could do with these is give them a glossy black core to make them fit in with the rest of the theme and make that blue only for highlights.
Appart from that it's great.

Will you be giving the newer versions numbers? eg 1.0, 2.4. because if you name them all the same thing it would be hard to repetitively install.
I would also, once it's complete, like to use this theme as the default for my gtk 2.x theme.

Keep up the good work. - Jul 06 2009

I like it:
it has some of the basic mac elements like the coloured close/min/max and the grey gradient but it also has some good elements of your own style.
I like the tabs, i think the mac tabs are just useless and uninteresting but yours are very nice, round and bubully.
The buttons are great too, very styled and not too mac. - Jul 09 2009

So for my next trick... i'll redo the icons! :O

Do i have to remind you this is a freeware site, there's no need to draw attention away from my theme to get more trafic to yours.

it would make it a lot easier and quicker if you could possibly find the place where the pictures for this theme are kept
I hope there's something somewhere, it's hard to get the text off the images.
Is there somewhere i can download the game? i may be able to find something if you can't
But, if you find ANYTHING to do with themes in the install place it would be a great help - Jun 11 2009
It's possible i think.
The tabs could be done, i think the border could be done in emerald
Combo boxes, sliders and scroll bars look possible...
The menu at the side cannot be made, because of streaching but one to that effect could be done, the menu button could be made in gnomenu
I think it's possible to do, but to be honest it's not an extreamly pretty theme
If you sent me as many screenshots as you could of the freatures on black backgrounds and then the same on white backgrounds i could probably attempt it although it could be a week or two

It's stupid how often windows isn't even compatible with itself.
Although linux is quite protective too, you are asked for your password every time you attempt to change a system file.
But with linux it makes sense, it stops you doing somthing stupid with a wall that only you can get past, but with windows anyone could just run a virus and click "Yeah, go on, run it then." - Jun 09 2009
