the problem with the menubar item is, that it´s drawn as a button. the button looks good but the menubar item doesn´t. we have to draw it individually.

i don´t think it´s so much performance decrese. gtkperf said it took 13.04 seconds while your original code took 13.11.

maybe you can make an option in the engine

i agree. if i compare nautilus with konqueror, i must say that konquereor seems to be years better. i´m not a coder, but i think from 2.12 to 2.14 nautilus got one feature, and this was the serach plugin. Maybe much has been done behind the GUI but i think, nautilus develops too slow - Jul 29 2006

there is a very light gradient. you can see this by using a color chooser and click on 2 different areas on the menuitem and then you´ll see that the 2 colors are different. but i´ll make the gradient stronger - Jun 20 2006

probably you don´t like the strokes on the scrollbar - i can´t make all out here happy :D but you an disable them (see description)
