You didn't make this, it's been up at iPodlounge for a LONG time, at least a few years!

This is the best Kstyle I've ever used! It's gorgeous and it's usable day to day. I wouldn't have thought that such a minor change to Plastik makes such a big difference. - Dec 05 2004

We need more fine detailed UI work like this! There are lots of little ugly areas that detract from the coherent look of KDE. - Nov 15 2004

Maybe no one will see this since it's so old, but no, I don't know any way to get a screenshot with the mouse cursor. I overlayed the PNG image of my cursor after I took the shot, just to let everyone see what it looks like.

Sorry for the deception. - Jun 20 2003

Cursors by tinic 20 comments

This is the kind of cursor theme I like! I'm a fan of mostly snow-white widgets, and while they look nice, white cursors are a pain to quickly spot on screen. And the default black X core cursor is a little unsightly. I really like the white border around these! It makes the cursor look like it's on a layer above everything else. - Jun 16 2003
Aqua Icons Modified

Icon Sub-Sets by snakattak3 10 comments

Looks good :) The reason I didn't try something like this is the icon theme I released is just one component of a massive, sweeping, comprehensive Aqua theme I am working on, where I'm trying hard to adhere to the way Apple does it by default. I'm glad to see original ideas too :)

Oh, you may want to start gkrellm with "kstart --skiptaskbar gkrellm" to keep it from cluttering up your taskbar list. No real reason to have it in there...

And is it just me, or is that Tux-n-tosh "gimp" icon quite frightening? :) - Feb 24 2003

I didn't write any code. Please give all the credit to kszwed for writing the shadow drawing code that this uses. All I did was change a few values for my menu mod. - Feb 20 2003

only complaint so far is that shadows shouldn't draw on maximized windows, because it covers up their entry in the kicker taskbar. this is awsome though, and i'm working on porting it to some other kwin decorations right now... - Feb 20 2003

I really can't take credit on this one. I have written no drop shadow drawing code.

And dude, you are AWESOME for this :) - Feb 20 2003

But does anything else even use draped_box? I've never seen anything that does. If there are a lot of things that used it, as an actual draped box, I would change my cursor. - Feb 13 2003

Yes it is a little thin. I wanted to make it wider, but it has to be functional as well as look nice, and for a text selection pointer, it's important you are able to easily fit it between adjacent letters. - Feb 13 2003

I couldn't get the kicker patch to work. It just wouldn't cleanly merge with the kicker from HEAD. I tried several times. - Feb 03 2003

It's a patch that has already been posted on KDE-Look. Search the main section back a few pages for something called "UI Enhancements." You will probably need kdelibs and kdebase from CVS for it to compile. Currently the only thing possible now is the black outline (though with a sufficiently thick and small font, it kinda looks like a shadow). It was generally agreed on the kde-devel mailing list that a true shadow would be better, and the guy behind the patches is currently working on it. Most likely it will be in KDE 3.2. - Feb 02 2003

I didn't expect a reply to that, honestly :)

Good to know the problem is at least tracked down; do you have an idea of when 0.5 might be ready? If icns2png can reliably convert all OSX icons, I think it would be worth the donation you ask for to get a KFile_ICNS plugin into KDE. - Jan 29 2003

It's worked great for me for every .icns icon so far except the ones in the SNOW.E aqua theme. Running "file" on them shows this:

Macintosh MacBinary data, type "Icon", creator "Mngl"

But trying to convert, I get this error:

Converting Finder to Finder.png...
Error loading icns resource!
Unable to find requested icon data!
Icon image is NULL!
Conversion of Finder failed!

Any idea what's wrong? - Jan 24 2003

You can cut down the size of the tarball by removing the .xvpics/ directories scattered throughout :) They are thumbnails left by whatever image viewing program you're using. - Aug 08 2002
