if Metabar doesn't initially start from the icon shortcut, just open Konqueror as usual and on the sidebar just either go to the options and add the Metabar or just roll back to defaults and it will be added. After this, go to Konqueror's options and just resave the profile. All should work after that. - Apr 04 2005
All in all the new version works great here. I'm glad to see the scrollbar is working correctly now.
One suggestion. Maybe making this themable would be a nice touch. I personally don't have any issues with how it looks. But, I do think giving a way to change the look would be a nice touch. If anything else, the ability to either change or add a background image would be cool. - Apr 04 2005
Sorry, nevermind that. It shows up. I had to use the resize handle to resize it to the left or right to get it to show up. - Mar 21 2005

Killing the kicker and running all from the console produces no info regarding the crash. Just everything appears to hang for some length of time then the kicker crashes and the console is back at the prompt. It's almost as if there is a huge cpu usage as it's reading menu items. - Apr 02 2005
Everything compiled correctly here. However, it causes the kicker to bail when I click on the programs menu. All other menu's work fine.

Nice program btw. - Apr 02 2005

This is a nice addition to KDE. For me however, I had to add an include to unistd.h to get past an `getuid' undeclared error. After that the program compiled successfully.

I think this can almost be done with konqueror, metabar and all the new kio slaves in 3.4.

With the shortcut linking that metabar does you could just say assign system:/ as a shortcut and so on the save it all as a profile.

Of course there would have to be some modifications done to metabar. But I think it would be doable. - Mar 22 2005
Colors, themes or what something else resembles is not important to me. From what I see so far, functionality alone is a nice idea. Slimmed down, more to the point options.
In my opinion, if a design works and serves it's purpose it doesn't matter which platform tidbits are snagged from.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this implemented. - Mar 22 2005

1. The configure dialogues are huge. Is there anyway of splitting these up to a tabbed based configure box?
2. I had to comment line 280 in the make file from the kwin directory in order to for this to compile. It kept saying there is no rule to make changelog.

Well, going to go play around with this thing and see what it looks like ;) - Mar 08 2005

This one I received a mktemp undeclaration error in imgarchivesink.cpp which after adding an include to iostream it compiled without a problem. - Mar 08 2005
In several of the source files I had to add stdlib.h as an include to rid myself of the undeclaration of the 'getenv'. Is there something else that should be setup in my environment to prevent having to do this? I have not had this problem in the past when compiling other versions of the app.
Also, one question: when it does it's check for the qt environment, what is it actually searching for? Some versions of qt included with some slack builds seem to be missing something when it's installed as a package. I'm using cvs builds of qt and that is working fine. But for packaging reasons, I would like to know what it's testing. - Mar 08 2005

I think it would be a cool idea to let those of us, that's using the current version of Tiblit to test out or keep up with development builds. This way, we can create themes that would be ready and compatible with an official release. And you could have a lot more themes to package with it. - Mar 02 2005
I'm really loving this Xrender thing for the menus. Would be nice to have this feature for buttons.. but, anyways, I have a few themes I'm working on and they are close to finished. I'm going to wait for your next release to send them to you. However, I'll send you a few screenshots so you can see what they are. - Feb 28 2005
>3. Is there some way of making the
>status bar flat?
It is the feature "Custom brush color" that other styles such as Comix uses". I think that's it. But if you look at comix and even lipstik you can see the status bar in something like konqueror is completely flat. I'll still send moc ups though. I already have them done.

Peace. - Feb 27 2005
My qt version is under frequent cvs updating. So when it stops working with this style I'll let you know ;)

Is there a way to remove the lines around places like combo boxes and tabs. Just like the buttons where you can make them almost blend with the color theme?

For example: for a bone white theme when you want things to be primarily flat.

peace - Feb 27 2005
1. Is it possible to add an option to flatten the scroll bar? i.e. remove the beveling?
2. Can the progress bar 'not' be striped as an option?
3. Is there some way of making the status bar flat?

As far as the styles, I have a lot of styles I authored over at crackedmonkey when I used bblean a year ago that Im working on converting. Still wish there was some way a style could use these style files... but... I authored those under the name of Nightbreed. I'll send you a some of them as soon as I generate enough.

You should make as many things user color definable as you can.. ;) lol - Feb 27 2005
I would have to say, this is by far, my favorite style. I love the fact that I can have more control of how my theming and colorizing looks. It compiles and runs smoothly with 3.4.0-rc1 of KDE and looks great. I would love to see a lot of new color schemes pop up on this site for this ;) - Feb 26 2005

there is an option in the settings menu to remember effects. Are effects still enabled in these releases of amarok or is this feature an artifact left over?

First I'll say, I like this program.

Now the problem. I have compiled and it does launch with out any issues. However when it's time to actually launch the program being typed, it crashes with a seg fault.

During program start up I get this:
QDir::currentDirPath: getcwd() failed
the program still runs but after typing what I wish to run, it bugs out with:

kio (KSycoca): Trying to open ksycoca from /var/tmp/kdecache-root/ksycoca
kio (KTrader): query for Katapult/Catalog : returning 2 offers
