You are correct. If you are using kde 3.2, you will likely experience some funkiness with any theme. This problem (and the solution) is well documented: In the src directory of the superkaramba sourcecode, comment out the line in karamba.cpp which reads:
KWin::setType(winId(), NET::Dock);
by changing it to:
// KWin::setType(winId(), NET::Dock);
A compile afterwards will reward you with superkaramba which now plays well with others. - May 27 2004

SuperKaramba 0.32 Package for Slackware

Karamba & Superkaramba by fox6666 9 comments

I'm having a hard time believing this works. I've tried installing from this package (and the superkaramba source) on my fresh slack 9 install. It flat out will not work with any themes that use python. Have you actually gotten this to work? What steps did you use to do the trick? It is my understanding, from reading the SK forums, that it won't work on slackware 9 because it does not have dynamic python modules. Your suggestions would be appreciated. - Sep 10 2003
