Oops, didn't see your comment until now. If you want the source just download the package, it's in there. GDM themes are just plain XML files, nothing has to be compiled. - Feb 28 2009
Hm, works fine on Dapper for me. I tried it on 3 different Dapper systems, 1 laptop and 2 regular PCs, without any of the problems you described. The only thing that occured to me is that the entry field is a few pixels further down the screen than in a previous version of GDM (Breezy), but that's all. - Jun 03 2006
In english it's:

System -> Administration -> Login Screen Setup -> Security -> Show Face Browser

Although this has no effect on the Themed Greeter, only the Standard Greeer. - Apr 19 2006
That's strange, my avatar is displayed properly. The screenshot does not show it as it was taken with the gdmthemetester which ignores the avatars. Maybe it's because I set my avatar manually by copying the image to ~/.face and not with the "About Me" dialog (and my avatar does not show up in that dialog). - Apr 17 2006
I'm afraid not, sorry. I only know (roughly) how to theme GDM and Metacity and everywhere I hear/read that GTK is way worse. Besides, I don't really have an idea what that theme should look like. - Apr 09 2006
Glad to hear that, although I must admit I didn't think about widescreen resolutions at all... lucky me. ;) - Apr 09 2006
It was the overall composition of the sky, clouds and the grass in this image that made me choose it, I liked it immediately. Tried a few others but they didn't fit well with the theme. - Apr 09 2006
Oops, it's not only you. Fixed it. :) - Apr 09 2006

In your output there's a line "sh: iwconfig: command not found". The iwconfig tool is in /sbin which by default is not listed in the path-variable of a regular user. Try to add it and see if the problem persists. - Feb 04 2008

Like children are always truthful when you put a simple age-question in place here...
Ok, seriously. IMHO seeing a naked body is a natural thing and nothing kids should be shielded from (and don't confuse this with porn, different story altogether)?

But actually this is not my point. What I find problematic is that you as a parent try to put your very responsibility into someone else's hand. If you don't want your child to see this type of stuff that don't let it surf the internet freely! Same goes for TV, you have to control which shows your children are allowed to watch and which ones not. You don't seriously expect everyone else to do your job, do you?! - Sep 19 2007

If you browse the web in front of children it's your obligation to check the content, not that of the content provider (I don't see how this image is harmful to children, but that is another story...). Don't put your responsibility on someone else's back. - Jan 06 2007

Thanks!
At first I had a function-less circle at the top, too. After I thought I finished the power button idea popped up which kind of makes it inconsistent, I agree. A restart and suspend button may be a proper replacement for the 2 bottom circles, I'll try it out.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about making GTK themes, never tried it. But the Neutronium theme might actually fit well with this GDM theme. - Nov 05 2006

Just for clarification, I'm not the author of Ease Of Ubuntu but of EaseOfBlue, which the former is based on. Would be fairer if you give credit to Itis Mewow since you based your theme on his work. - Aug 17 2006

I actually don't see the imbalance you mention. The edge is intentionally left in the upper half of the login box.
As for the background image, I had one first but changed it to the simple single-colored background to make it, well, simpler. The background I tried was the following one, if you want to try it for yourself:

A matching GTK theme would be great! :) - Jul 12 2006
Well, the ASL was kind of intended as a joke... ;-)
Anyway, gonna change that. - Jul 12 2006
Never heard of that acronym before...
I'll work on it the next days or so, icons should make the theme fit better for other languages as well (something I completely forgot this time). - Jul 11 2006

I didn't notice the fuzzy corners (not so visible at 1600x1200 ;), thanks for pointing out. Gonna release a fixed version later today. - Nov 21 2005

Seems like I haven't inspected the new screenshot from the mockup closely enough... the new one has a red button. Guess it's time for Gentleman v2. ;) - Nov 21 2005
Haven't found the time yet, but it's on my TODO list. - Nov 21 2005
I'm not good with Inkscape either, but different buttons for maximized windows seems like a good idea, I'll probably do this soon.
As for the red button I'd rather do another theme altogether, since the Gentleman theme was intended solely to resemble the mockup. - Nov 21 2005
I think we are talking at cross-purposes here. As I understand it binarymelon's question has nothing to do with this. He just asked about the color, not about thinner or thicker borders and such.
And I do appreciate that you showed me the trick with two colors to get a pseudo-1px border, wasn't aware of it. I'm thinking about adding a third download with your version of the 3px border. - Nov 19 2005
I know the theme does not look that good with a wider border, because of which I didn't release that version from the very beginning. If you magnify your image you'll see that the color actually is correct, although it seems to "jump out at you".
http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/9858/border3pxmag4bj.png - Nov 19 2005
I saw the link you provided but didn't download and try it. I assumed it was the same 3px version that I uploaded. Guess I didn't read your posting carefully enough. ;)
Anyhow, what does this have to do with the question of binarymelon? He refers to the titlebar color, not the background color. - Nov 19 2005
The 3px frame has the same color as the 1px frame. I'm not sure what you mean. - Nov 18 2005
They do actually. The titlebar has a very thin border in the same color as the frame. - Nov 17 2005
Indeed, a width of 3px or more is needed to display the corners correctly. Really strange... :/
Thanks for mentioning! - Nov 16 2005
I sure heard about Bluecurve but never actually used it so I was not sure what exactly you meant. An no, I currently have no plans to make Human/Bluecurve versions of it, sorry. - Nov 15 2005

I used other GPL'd graphics to create the Gentleman theme, which now Amaury bases his theme on. This is no problem at all. On the contrary, it's a good thing and the very way Free Software works. - Nov 16 2005
