It looks especially great on a side panel with the task manager widget.
Panels on the top look a bot odd, possibly due to the glow...

I see references to
Q_OS_MAC, and Q_OS_WIN32 but no reference to linux or bsd.
As I said, I am not a programmer, but perhaps it would not be dificult to extend the build targets to these platforms.

I tried
# qmake
# make
recieved the error:
....
scan.cpp: In member function ‘virtual void Scan::run()’:
scan.cpp:94:39: error: ‘TRASH_PATH’ was not declared in this scope
scan.cpp:103:52: error: ‘TRASH_PATH’ was not declared in this scope
make: *** [scan.o] Error 1
I may be trying to build it incorrectly but there is no ReadME or INSTALL file to get directions.
I look forward to being able to use MultifileDetector - Aug 01 2011
A couple notes / feature requests:
I would love to see check boxes next to the tasks,
this would allow one to keep a record of completed tasks.
Removing tasks when complete does not allow me to look back and see if and when I did something.
Allow configuration of font colors along with the background colors (priorities)
Last, the "Done" button in the bottom right corner is confusing, I expected it to close the window,
instead it removed the task. Perhaps "Task Complete" or "Remove Task" or "Remove" might be more appropriate.
Of course the button won't even be needed if check boxes are added :-) - Nov 18 2010

I think I have all of these KDE4 devel packages installed but don't know how to tell cmake where they are.
I really like the looks of this project and think nepomuk integration is an excellent idea.
Good luck w/ it - Oct 08 2009
I've been unable to get this prog to coompile using the methods I'm familiar with. I can see that it should be really simple but I'm not getting anywhere and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
no configure, makefile or .pro file
maybe install / build instructions in the source package would be a good idea.

Although everyone wants kde4 to succeed there is still work that needs to be done before many users workflow will not be impeded by the new paradigm.
The headlong rush by distros forcing users to switch before they are ready can only lead to bad feelings and disappointment.
I suspect that a great number of users will not be ready to move to kde4 before 2010, (Large corporate and educational installations such as brazils rollout of kde 3.5.5 in the schools) won't want to shift desktops until a clear advantage is shown. - May 02 2009
When the program starts it's a bit of a mess, one window opened on top of another, the configuration window had to be resized before using it.
But I can see a definite use for a program like this, I would like to use this instead of sticky notes, the moving text draws attention and is harder to ignore.
I would like to see transparent background, and the possibility to use png or jpeg files for backgrounds rather than just gif files.
Like I said at the beginning though, this is a really nice start to a utility that could be very useful.
oh yeah localization, (maybe it is time for me to look at making a translation )

Also, objects in window don't scale when window resized, window should be locked in size (less preferable) or program features should re-size.

Dolphin Service Menus by Hydranmenace 7 comments
The issue is much more likely to be addressed by pointing out a problem with the dependency rather than by simply voting "bad".
It's not a complex piece of code, it may be easy to adapt it to kde3 but how would Hydranmenace know people want that?
It's frustrating to try to make a contribution and have it anonymously voted down without any idea of what people would like changed.
maybe if people were forced to log in to vote (as is required for comments ) the input would be more useful.
Have a good night. - Aug 21 2008

Dolphin Service Menus by Hydranmenace 7 comments
It is something that I look forward to using, I'll let you know if I run into problems.
Thanks for contributing. - Aug 20 2008
For my own use I changed the open with part of the service menu to nview from xnview, this has the advantage of only opening 1 window to view the image instead of 2.
[Desktop Action open file]
Exec=/usr/local/bin/nview
Icon=xv
Name=open file
For those that would rather have the convert menu appear in tha actions submenu instead of the main menu you just need to delete or comment out the
X-KDE-Priority=TopLevel
changed to
#X-KDE-Priority=TopLevel
line in the desktop file

Are there benefits to using Keeppass/L over kwallet? Does it intigrate well w/ applications for automatic password insertion or does it act just as a password safe.
Nice looking application. maybe my questions will be answered once I get around to compiling it.

Sorune is nice but I haven't been able to get it to work properly since moving to SuSE 9.2 :-(. Positron didn't work for me at all and NDBM seemed clunky and strangely inconsistent in its effect.
Good luck with it - Mar 09 2005
I changed the absolute path in quik.cpp and ran make again, no errors reported (on the second run) but no binary created either.
SuSE 9.0 if it matters (shouldn't)
Potentially very nice app if the compilation errors can be sorted out - Dec 06 2004

My understanding from visiting the site
IraqBodyCount.org
Is that they are documenting civilian deaths. Since most of those civilians are Iraqi it would seem that a high importance is being placed on Iraqi life.
As for every death (life) being counted, I agree, they should be, but for a non-military audience civilian deaths lead to a more powerful sympathetic reaction.
I'll stop here before I get into my incendiary rhetoric.
Have a great night

/opt/kde/share/services desktop file for the filetype
"application/x-msmetafile"
based on the wmfthumbnail.desktop file.
The original wmfthumbnail.desktop file addresses the "image/x-wmf" file type
My msmetafile.desktop file addresses the "application/x-msmetafile" file type.
I've included this .desktop file in my
wmf-converter 0.3 files at
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=16260
Still don't know why it (WMF-Thumbnail-Plugin) won't compile for me any more. - Sep 17 2004

Either it is a problem with wmf2svg command from libwmf or with the options sent by my desktop file.
So my suggestion is try it, maybe the results will be what you need.

Unfortunately your plugin (and my service menu) seem to no longer work with kde3.3.
I tried a fresh compile of your sourcecode but recieved the following error
"In file included from /usr/include/libwmf/types.h:35,
from /usr/include/libwmf/api.h:25,

make[2]: *** [wmfthumbnail.lo] Error 1"
Apparently a problem w/ freetype2 but since I'm really not a programmer I'm not sure how to get around this error.
I do have freetype2 (2.1.7-11)
and freetype2-devel (2.1.7-11)
installed.
Has anyone else noticed this problem? is there a solution?
Thanks, hope to be enjoying your plugin again in the near future.

something related I've wanted to suggest (sorry if I am hiijacking your thread, it just seems appropriate here) is that when you click on the clock applet in kicker, a calender window pops up, it would be nice if clicking on a date in this small calander would open up the kdePIM calander to the same date, - Jul 03 2004
"./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3"
shows no error but "make" errors out
apparantly looking for aclocal-1.4, I've got a /usr/share/aclocal-1.8/ directory and /usr/bin/aclocal-1.8
I can see automake problems on the horizon (once this is solved)
