if youre on karmic, i suggest you add this ppa https://launchpad.net/~suraia/+archive/ppa to your apt-sources to have the updated murrine engine for karmic, instead of downloading the deb package posted. the deb package posted works only for lucid. - Feb 08 2010

download the original deb package that came with karmic from here http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/i386/gtk2-engines-murrine/download

then run this in terminal
sudo dpkg --force-overwrite -i gtk2-engines-murrine_0.90.3-1ubuntu1_i386.deb

this would force overwrite the git master version of murrine. HTH - Feb 08 2010
