Well you have to install the .bin file that comes with the theme and then run,

gdesklets /path/to/theme/.display

If it dont run then try gdesklets --tray-icon - Jul 16 2004

I dont understand why you need to do this, you can change the directories icons anyway. All you need to do is be root and change the directory Icons yourself, login the root account or use the super user file manager. - Apr 29 2004

There is nothing wrong with the kmenu, in fact that design is a copy of the XP menu which is poor anyway. The kmenu is set out in cataguries which is much better, most used apps are placed at the top keeping the menu slim.

People should get used to how kde, kmenu is rather than design it like Windows. - Apr 27 2004

Lets get something striaght, i'm am not flaming, the last thing we want to see is a KDM like the XP one. It's a direct copy pure and simple. - Mar 24 2004
Why dont you people get it through your thick heads that the KDM is fully configurable or use the GDM. Really all this fuss about a friggin login screen is childish, if you dont like it change it or go back to Windows.

The fact is it's a clone of the XP login, way to much like it, but if you like it do it, but dont tellor expect KDE developers to use it for the next version, because they will not. - Mar 24 2004
I hope thats a joke, how hard can clicking or typing your name and pressing enter be.

You can use Icons, pictures, colour schemes and theme in the KDM, you'll need to use the login manager and do that. - Mar 23 2004

Why should kdm look like that, after all you spend no more that 5-10 seconds loggin anyway. You can theme it, add icons or a pic and even you own colour scheme.

I have a nice SuSE logo, my own pic of a user and the plastik theme. - Mar 21 2004
You missing the point of Linux, it was never aimed that the thicko computer user like Windows is. Linux is not in the same market as Win and people come to Linux useally with experience, the editing part is there if you want it.

Linux is constanly being up and improved and your "average" person(including me, but been called a expert) didnot expect to do the things i'm doing now with Linux. I didnot like command lines and editing, over time you begin to realize how powerful that is, take a theme and edit it to how you like, wow now that you cannot do in windows. One thing that get me is how easy can it be to type the name of the program rather than go look for it in a huge friggin menu. Linux copy?, like what?, when XP was released the 10 things MS said was new Linux aleady had, now people are editing there XP boot screens and logins when Linux users have been doing it for years.

I dont know why people moan so much about how much harder Linux is but what do you expect for free, ok I paided for SuSE but it's much cheaper and stable than that bloated XP. - Mar 20 2004
And it's ignorance like that we dont want, people like you need to get out of your Windows hole and learn something different, MS constsanly copy features from other OS's and Linux.

There is nothing inovative about clicking, except virus's in your emails, thats a really cool feature of Winblows. Linux suits everyone taste you can take feature or disable them, make it look how you want instead of being stuck with crap like windows way of working forever.

If people dont want to move to Linux because of learning more then they can stay in there Windows world. Linux is Linux and it's upto the decretion of the distro on how Windows like it is, not some brainwashed attitude expecting it to be like Windows. - Mar 17 2004
Whats your point, so does the KDM and the GDM, in fact both can be themed and customized to how you want them to look.

The people who think what KDM should look like have no idea how to make it look there own way, it's a case of not knowing the OS/environment they are in or ignorance. - Mar 10 2004
Well if you want kde or Gnome to look like WindowsXP you can, there are windowDecs and themes that will do that. I am against the idea that you should change kde for the sake of moving Windows users over, come to Linux if you want but dont EXPECT it to be like Winblows.

The fact is some people seem to be dug in there MS hole and expect everything else to work or look the same. - Mar 10 2004
Why on earth would we want more people to come to Linux just because it looks likek Winblows, and for one you are wrong. People want different not the same crap from Windows, alot of people find KDE alot better and refreshingly different(like me).

Its people like you we dont want and kde's own login style is important, the last thing we want it people like you forcing Windows look on kde users and Linux. - Mar 09 2004
The KDM already does the things you pointed out, login manager does it. - Feb 21 2004
The login manager lets you do all that anyway so whats new. - Feb 20 2004
You can theme the KDM anyway, add icons, colour schemes and a background pictures. - Dec 27 2003
You can customize or use any theme, colour, icons, background picture for the KDE login manager you want.

In XP you need a third party app to do this so why do you think KDE login manager need changing?, because it's a damn site better than the XP one. - Dec 09 2003

Most of the time you dont need to change things and it can be done all in one window, I mean how are can it be. I do wounder if people at kde-look have properly got used to linux and KDE at all. - Feb 07 2004

By the way, Suse users will want to compile SK from source as it fixes the themes not showing issue. - Jan 26 2004
I dont know why but liquid weather dont show anymore, it starts but it's not on screen at all.

I tried compiling python 2.3.3 but that dont fix it, it did show but now it's not at all. Any ideas?, I'm runing Suse 9 Pro, superkaramba 0.33(compiled from source)

Hi, I really think theses icons should be released with the next version of KDE, they are very professional.

To the dude who thinks they are to much like the crystal icons, it's a good job your not a designer because your eye sight is messed up.

I'm abit of a graphic artist myself and these icons are topnotch. - Dec 11 2003
