thx for the wallpapers, site wont let me put this under your post, crappy site. - Sep 24 2018
a lot of people ( myself included ) abandoned this site and it's sister sites some years back when they revamped them and tried to make them more commercial, it's now quite awkward to update content/links etc.
But thx for the kind words. - Sep 24 2018
Glad to help.
The wallpaper is a tiled pattern, can't remember where I found it but I have put it in my dropox you can get it from here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fl2312cnz4p2cg0/pat.png?dl=0
Also a brown one ( the original ) here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/b0g2lcjy0x5xwl4/wood125.jpg?dl=0
All my themes etc can be here:
http://khapplications.freeddns.org/index.html - Sep 24 2018
Sorry meant xfwm4, typo, anyway that's not important.
Dragging the archibve on to the appearence settings window DOESN'T install the wm stuff, so yo need to install manually, like so:
remove the OldBrownWood folder from ~/.themes
unpack the archive ( use manager or cli :tar -xvf /path/to/downloaded/archive )
drag the unpacked OldBrownWood folder to ~/.themes.
Some arcive guis surround the extracted folder in another folder, so you wnt the folder below that ie the one called OldBrownWood cotainig the index.theme file.
Let me know if this helps. - Sep 24 2018
just checked in Linux Mint ( I assume that's what u mean by LM ) 18.1 and it works fine, how/where are u installalling the files? - Sep 23 2018

Not too sure what you mean by the "windows bar", can u explain a bit more.

Thanks for this.
If you are the package maintainer please email me direct and I will make sure that you are informed when I update KKEdit, my email address is in the 'About' box or the source code. - Jun 11 2016
I decided to make aspell optional as some people would not have it installed or would use their own spell checker also I do not know how well aspell is being maintained I gather it's an older program but I could be wrong, and so may not be easily available, adding the --enable-aspell option is easy enough so I think I will in this instance keep it how it is, of course anyone maintaining a package for it could make aspell a required dependency, but that would be up to the maintainer and the packaging system used. - Oct 26 2013
Thanks I can't think of anything extra that needs to be put into it except maybe more or user designed templates, and maybe menu or drop down button to insert little used code, lists and so on, but I've had no one ask for that so I'll hold off for a while, but always open to suggestions:) - Oct 23 2013

Top of the page from that link is a bug reporting link, please email me this is not the right place for bug reports.

You CAN cancel exit if you have unsaved changes, if you have no unsaved changes you dont need an option to cancel quit, this is standard behaviour, there was a bug some versions back that didn't allow you to cancel exit with unchanged contents but that had been fixed, you may need to update. - Sep 05 2015
Email me the adress is in the aboit box, the source code, the readme file etc - Sep 05 2015

The source highlight selector has now been moved to the 'tab' context menu and is alphabetically sorted and displays the name better.
A few other tweaks as well. - Mar 26 2014
Actually its in the README file ;)
But I will put it in the help file for the next update, never thought about it.

I have sort of half gone over to google sites but only because my old site has being going up down lately, I've had no trouble for the last two years with it so maybe the hosting site is doing some major upgrades, I don't really like google sites as everything has to be done via the browser, no ftp upload yet, haven't decided what to do yet but I will keep your suggestions in mind thanks. - Mar 25 2014
Bloody firefox has gone insane! - Mar 25 2014
Yes I have the same thing it may be a gtk2 thing, I will look at it but it may not be fixable without a lot of work as I am thinking of removing it from the tool bar anyway probably best just to put up with it for now :( You don't have to show all the text boxes on the toolbar personally I only have the jump to line number and the live search showing, makes for a less cluttered toolbar.

The lack of alphabetical sorting seems to be a ubuntu thing as it is sorted on my system ( LFS ), another reason to remove it!

P.S.
Can people PLEASE send bug reports direct to me the email is in the help->about->credits, amongst other places. - Mar 25 2014

Fixed. - Dec 14 2013
To start off with can you PLEASE send bug reports direct to me via email the address is in the INSTALL file and also in the about box, these forums are no good for bug reporting.

But for now I need the files you say it can't open ( I regularly use .txt and .html files so don't know why you can't ), so please tar up the files preferably as root to save permissions etc, also run the 'stat' command on the files and check for any weirdness and also send the output of the stat commands to me.

Your other comment about the error messages points to wrong permissions/encoding, but until I get the above info I can't do much.

Missed the %F param from the desktop file as I don't use d'n'd much I'll put it in in the next release, thanks for that.

I don't use nautilus so absolutely can't help there :(

Email me and I will try and sort it for you. - Dec 07 2013
Glad you got it sorted.
Enjoy! - Dec 07 2013
See the INSTALL file for needed dependencies but you DO need the -dev packages when building source code on a debian system, use this:

sudo apt-get libwebkitgtk-dev

Debian is a major headache when building from source as most people forget/don't know that the development files ( headers etc ) are in a separate package.

I pointed out the above command earlier with the other optional deps. - Dec 07 2013
Although the doc viewer is optional it is enabled by default and depends on webkit if you don't want to build the doc viewer you must specifically disable it like so:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-docviewer

I would STRONGLY recommend that you install webkit and use the built in docviewer, if you don't it will use your default web browser which depending how it is set up is not as convienient or as fast as the built in docviewer. - Dec 07 2013
Find and replace in all open files now done.
Enjoy! - Dec 06 2013
Thanks!
For the optional installs you need these:

Optional installs:
sudo apt-get aspell aspell-en libaspell-dev
sudo apt-get libwebkitgtk-dev
sudo apt-get install man2html-base

aspell-en is the english dictionary change to suit your needs.
- Dec 01 2013
use this:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-dev libgtk2.0-dev
sudo apt-get install libgtksourceview2.0-dev
sudo apt-get install libunique-dev
sudo apt-get install exuberant-ctags

I will update the install instructions. - Dec 01 2013
1) yes gtksourceview-2.0-dev=libgtksourceview2.0-dev
2) yes unique-1.0-dev = libunique-dev ? (ver. 1.1.6)
3) yes ctags = exuberant-ctags
4) if you have installed build-essential which you need to compile anything on debian the glib dev files should be included ( if I remember as I don't use debian )

I am working on 'find in all files' but I have just started a new job and don't have much time for this so please be patient. - Dec 01 2013
I have never seen medit so I wouldn't know, but if there are any similarities they are purely coincidental!

I have thought about adding regex to search/replace but haven't found the time I like the idea of searching all open files and I will definitely put both on my todo list.
Thanks for the suggestions. - Nov 22 2013

readlink gives:

For most of them.
I like the look of thse and hope you can fix this

Just what I was looking for, a couple of things though it doesn't save anything to the style sheets just empty files, also the 'Creat fonts.conf' does nothing just gives this:
QIODevice::write: device not open
in the shell.
Would be nice to get the style sheets working, I am using LFS, qt-5.40, and xfce DE - Mar 18 2015

Found a small bug in the makefile if you for instance use ./configure --enable-qt5, make
and then change the install prefix ie ./configure --enable-qt5 --prefix=/usr WITHOUT doing make clean before installing the program icon is not in the right place, so uninstall it ( if you installed it ) and then do
make clean
./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-qt5
make
sudo make install - Sep 29 2014
have you run sudo make install?
if you run the app without installing it it wont be able to find the program icon. - Sep 29 2014

No! it would replace the ktsuss app with a link, it just pretends to be ktsuss, if you don't want to install ktsuss or polkit breaks it again THEN use the --enable-ktsuss-link you can of course have both programs installed with no problems. - Nov 06 2013
