TorK

Hi everybody,
this is just to say that IMHO TorK is the most advanced KDE application when it comes to usability and user interaction. I'm so astonished about the great amount of the small UI details they have developed! IMHO it should take part in KDE apps award alongside K3B, Digikam and friends! - Oct 14 2007

Dear all,
I've tried to emerge this ebuild but it stops stating that kuroolito-0.10.1.tar.bz2 doesn't exists on http://files.kuroo.org/.

KMyFirewall

Security by theanimal666 38 comments

Well, I've installed, as a test, kmyfirewall with:
./configure --prefix=/opt/kmyfirewall.
Then I've added
export PATH=/opt/kmyfirewall/bin:$PATH;
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/kmyfirewall/lib64 (since I'm on amd64)
KDEDIRS=/opt/kmyfirewall:$KDEDIRS

Then I ran kmyfirewall (after cleaning its saved preference in my home). I created a file from a Workstation Temaplate and on the Konsole it printed this infos:

kmyfirewall: WARNING: KXMLGUIClient::setXMLFile: cannot find .rc file kmfgenericinterfaceparetui.rc
kmyfirewall: WARNING: KXMLGUIClient::setXMLFile: cannot find .rc file kmfinstallerpluginui.rc
kmyfirewall: WARNING: KXMLGUIClient::setXMLFile: cannot find .rc file kmfiptablescompiler.rc

Which are a clear message of misconfiguration. Where am I wrong? - Feb 27 2006
KMyFirewall

Security by theanimal666 38 comments

Hi I tryed with simple installation from sources, but the behaviour is exactly the same... opening any template or source file results in having a complete empty tree from which to start off... I'll try to install kmyfirewall in an own directory... we'll see... - Feb 27 2006
KMyFirewall

Security by theanimal666 38 comments

Hi, since KMyFirewall 1.0, it became unusable on my Gentoo system. In the generic interfece, protocols appear empty, and in both interfaces when I load a file regardless it's a template or a saved one, when KMyFirewall opens it, its rules are thrown away - Feb 17 2006

My distro is a Slackware, too, but a little bit recompiled :-)
Searching through headers of 2.6.10 vanilla, I found that BLKGETSIZE64 was already defined as you told me. Looking through config.log I found other problems concerning this request:
In file included from /usr/include/linux/fs.h:19,
from conftest.c:35:
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:22: error: parse error before "pgoff_t"
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:27: error: parse error before "pgoff_t"
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h: In function `prio_tree_iter_init':
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:29: error: `iter' undeclared (first use in this f
unction)
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:29: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reporte
d only once
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:29: error: for each function it appears in.)
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:29: error: `root' undeclared (first use in this f
unction)
/usr/include/linux/prio_tree.h:30: error: `r_index' undeclared (first use in thi
s function)
conftest.c: In function `main':
conftest.c:40: warning: 'main' is normally a non-static function
conftest.c: In function `main':
conftest.c:43: warning: implicit declaration of function `ioctl'
conftest.c:43: warning: nested extern declaration of `ioctl'
It seems great problems are there in the linux headers.
My question is, if I compile hal with kernel 2.4.xx (so without sysfs) will it run with 2.6.xx?
Thanks a lot for your advice and knowledge! - Feb 04 2005

For example because I've never managed to compile hal. It halts on ./configure!!! With gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4, linux-2.6.10-cko3+ck5.
It makes me crazy with:
checking for BLKGETSIZE64... no
configure: error: BLKGETSIZE64 is not defined

How can I install it, if I only own gcc 3.4.2?
Am I supposed to install back gcc 3.3.x?
I launched setup -n, and here's the error message I received from the installer:

Tadaaaaaah
If I execute appletproxy on the konsole, and trigger the error (i.e. I try to configure styleclock) appletproxy says on stderr:
kdecore (KConfigDialogManager): WARNING: A widget named 'kcfg_showDate' was found but there is no setting named 'showDate'
appletproxy: kconfigdialogmanager.cpp:202: bool KConfigDialogManager::parseChildren(const QWidget*, bool): Asserzione `false' fallita.
KCrash: crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = appletproxy path = pid = 16541

Does this help you?
P.s. Asserzione `false' fallita. is in Italian and means, as you can guess, that the assertion is failed :-) - Sep 15 2004

Ciao! Hai l'orologio avanti!
Ho appena scaricato il tuo programma e tar mi ha dato un po' di errori di tempo dei file impostato nel futuro... ehehehe (O sono io ad avere l'orologio indietro... mah!)

Is it possibile to start kcube with a defined nice priority?
I would also be beautiful if it was possibile to set the beackground to trasparence, so I can use the settings of my kicker...
Anyway, very good idea and job!
Thank you!
