My panel hides automatically when mouse cursor is not over it or panel's widgets windows. So, e.g. when you click on "Digital Clock", plasmoid shows the calendar. You can move the mouse cursor over calendar, click on it but the panel is still visible.
In your plasmoid, when I click on icon with grouped programs, a list of programs is displayed below. When I move mouse cursor over this list, panel gets hidden.
IMO keeping panel visible is in this case reasonable - it allows go to other programs icons without going first to the edge of the screen to display panel again. - Apr 25 2009
