Well, I'm not sure exactly how to describe it. It's more evident when using certain wallpapers (and, I would guess, depending on what plamsa theme you're using).

I'll try though. Surrounding the paper-and-the-magnifying glass I at least get a somewhat blackish looking frame. It's not black as I first thought though. It was just the wallpaper I was using that made it look like that. It is sort of semi-transparant. You can see the wallpaper through it (especially if you enlarge the plasmoid quite a bit) but it is still rather noticable. I can maybe fix that myself if I knew which file it is using for the's not widets/background.svg in a theme-directory is it? If it was the background should be completely invisible using my theme (a modified glassified).

Note: I didn't compile from source. I am using a unofficial rpm from the OpenSuse 11 factory repos.

Oh, and I noticed something else too. Maybe just my setup though...the plasmoid remembers its location between sessions but not its size. Whenever I want to use it after logging in, I need to resize it if I want to see what I'm doing. - Jul 03 2008
First, nice and useful little addition :)

Just two questions...

1. Is it normal to get a "Qt subapplication" window (mostly just the window titlebar really) when you use the preview with images? Really annoying though.

2. Would it be possible to have the icon to NOT have a black border around the paper? Minor thing, I know, but I prefer when things blend into the rest of my desktop. - Jul 03 2008

Great plasmoid doesn't really does this plasmoid justice, and it really should be considered to be as indispensible as the KDE 3 quick browser applet (and this one is even better) and as such should probably be included in a later version of KDE (probably too late for 4.1 but mabe 4.1.1?) - Jul 01 2008

Which Qt4 Qtcurve and/or KDE4 version would that be?

Qt 4.4 and KDE 4.1? I certainly don't get KDE filedialogues in my qt-apps (using OpenSuse 11, KDE 4.0.4, qtcure 0.59.3) - Jun 30 2008
I'm trying to compile this for KDE4 (4.0.2.) and I've hit a roadblock.

cmake doesn't complain about anything (using cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr -DKGTK_KDE4=true -DKGTK_QT4=true -DKGTK_GTK2=false -DLIB_PREFIX=64 as per the readme file).

Make complains though...

What does the following mean and what can be done to fix it?

"On another note someone has written something similar to this before I am sure. It was a katapult like program where you could build up a circular menu system of your favourite applications."

Do you mean this one?

It was great in KDE3.x, and I hope it will ported to 4.x eventually. - Apr 19 2008

Not exacly I'm afraid. Cmake said something along the lines of "This program works better if bonobui is installed".

When I tried to compile anyway (since I thought the program should work without it), I got errors regarding undefined variables and/or functions. In qt_main.c IIRC.

I'm using Kubuntu Hardy, so some of the problem may or may not have something to do with its alpha-status. - Mar 16 2008
The only thing I needed to do was to make sure that bonoboui and its dependencies were installed, as well as the corresponding -dev package.

The message cmake gave kinda fooled me, since it didn't sound like an error. It sounded more like "If you want the best out of the engine, you should have bonobui installed." That is, it sounded as if it would work without bonobui but not optimally. Turned out I was wrong about that and that it was mandatory.

Hope that helps. - Mar 12 2008
Very nice! I was hoping this would be ported to KDE4 quickly, and I was not disappointed. Well, once I had figured out why it refused to compile for me...

Apart from tabs in firefox3 (then again, tabs in KDE4 apps look awful once there's not enough screen estate for them as well...), everything looks a LOT nicer now. And I assume the tabs would look odd in the same way in other gtk-apps too. Very apprecieated!

If it only was as easy to get gtk-apps to use the KDE file/print dialogues... - Mar 11 2008

Very nice! A few suggestions for improvements:

1. The ability to use a picture as a background instead of just a gradient.
2. The ability to change font.
3. Less important, but sometimes it is easier to import pictures through a file selector instead of drag and drop. - Mar 09 2008

That means that either some files in such album are not writable (check file permisions!), or are not mp3 but some other filetype (like mp1 or mp2).
I'll try to add more informative error messages in the next major release.

Ah, okay. I checked the file permissions and filetype, and nothing seems to be wrong there. At least not on the albums I remember being warned I suspect the files might be somewhat corrupt or damaged. Not damaged enough to be unplayable but enough to make the replaygain command choke.

The tagging utilities don't mix together. May be I can find a workaround, but don't hold your breath.

No worries :) There wasn't many of those so I just converted a couple of the songs to get around that. - Jul 13 2007
Very nice actually, although I think I have might found a bug. Or a missing feature...

I've applied the tags to my entire collection (takes forever on a 40+ gig collection but that's no big deal since I only have to do it once), however the script and/or the external utilities failed on some albums.

On some albums, the error message is just "command failed". If possible, it would be better if you could be informed of why it failed. I would guess that depends on what kind of error message say mp3gain returns.

It also fails when an album has files of more than one type in it. I.e. I have some albums where some songs are mp3s and others are oggs.

Other than that, great work and more than well worth the time to tag the collection! - Jul 10 2007

They only, as far as I know, use lm-sensors and hddtemp as backends. - Jun 18 2007
Never mind the other reply...this link should hopefully work.

I haven't solved the temperature sensors issue yet, but otherwise it works. - Jun 18 2007
I do have a package ready, although for some reason it won't display the temperature information. Yes, the developer files for those features are installed and were at compile time but the information still refuses to show. Other programs show the info so I'm not sure where the problem is.

Still, the package can be uploaded as-is if I only knew where and how. - Jun 18 2007
I'm just wondering...why on earth do I get an error complaining about autoconf not found? Or an autoconf that is not recent enough.

It says I need version 2.53.

/usr/bin/autoconf --version

gives me 2.61.

I'm no programmer, but I haven't had this kind of problem when compiling from source before. Kinda annoying when there's no recent .deb for my machine.

I'm running Kubuntu 7.04 64-bit and I really want to be able to get this to work. The 64-bit deb for the earlier version works, but the new features sound interesting :) - Jun 16 2007

Great app!

Just one question...I get the album-cover art in the kicker without a problem, but is it normal that it doesn't show in the pop-up you get if you let the mouse hover over the applet? Or the number of stars you've assigned the song for that matter. In the pop-up I only get amarok's standard no-cover image albeit with a yellow star centered over it.

Not a big problem since the information is available in the kicker itself, just struck me as somewhat odd. - Jun 17 2007
