I get this:

libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/local/lib/'

If I run rpm -qa | grep libart_lgpl, I get:

My build fails with this error:

grep: /usr/local/lib/ No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/local/lib/ No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/local/lib/' is not a valid libtool archive
make: *** [libkmldonkey/] Error 1

I have libart_lgpl installed, along with the devel package. RedHat rpm's don't seem to include these *.la files. Any way I can finish my compile? - Mar 10 2004

I noticed the part about qt-copy1. There is just a symlink from qt-copy1 to qt. However, if I remove the symlink and rename qt-copy1 to qt-copy and make a new symlink, things aren't better. It still claims it can't find AmaroK seems to be the only application that has a problem with this file. - Jan 10 2004
I am running KDE 3.2 beta 2 with a recent qt-copy. My compile fails every time with this error:

libtool: link: warning: library `/usr/local/qt-copy/lib/' was moved.
libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/local/qt-copy1/lib/'

The library it complains about is definitely there:

That did it! I opened .sversionrc in vi and there were several different versiond recorded there. I deleted all but the correct one and started over. Then it installed with no problem. I didn't see this issue in the README. Anyway, it looks great. - Oct 26 2003
Each time I try to run quickInstall.tcl, it fails with this message:

OpenOffice config directory:
config directory not found, creating
mkdir: cannot create directory `/home/rebus/OpenOffice.org1.1/user/config/soffice.cfg': No such file or directory

It's true that this directory doesn't exist. My OpenOffice directory is called OpenOffice.org1.1.0. For some reason, it doesn't like adding the zero at the end. The directory is spelled out correctly in config.tcl. So, I don't know how to make it find the actual directory instead of the nonexistent one it's looking for. - Oct 25 2003

I'm running Superkaramba 0.32 on KDE 3.1.4. With the last two versions, Superkaramba starts the theme, but nothing at all appears on my screen. I clicked around to see if it was crammed into a corner or running off the edge, but no luck. If I start the theme from the command line, I can see it retrieving all of the weather data, but nothing ever shows up on my screen and I don't get any errors either. - Oct 04 2003

I got it to work by adding a sym link to in /usr/lib. I have never before encountered a Linux application that could only access a library if it was found in a specific directory. If a library is in any directory found in then the application ought to be able to access it.

Also, the location of this library may be "non-standard" for Redhat. But RedHat's whole setup for KDE is non-standard. That's why I compile KDE from source.

But thanks for offering the RPM.I just wish it functioned in a UNIX kind of way. - May 24 2003
Slicker installed with no problem. But it won't run. Every time I get this error:

slicker: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

This is completely wrong. The file is in /usr/local/kde/lib and that is in I reran ldconfig just for good measure, but it didn't help. I also tried adding a sym link in /usr/local/lib. Same result. So, why can't it find a library that exists and is in the path? - May 23 2003

I am getting this too, using superkaramba 0.23 on RedHat with Python 2.2. These themes sure seem to have trouble working on different distributions! I just see a blank space where the theme is supposed to be and I get these errors:

[rebus@localhost kroller-v0.89]$ superkaramba kroller.theme
karamba: TaskManager::TaskManager()
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 53, in ?
import string, re, os, time
ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.2/lib-dynload/ undefined symbol: PyInt_FromLong
What does ImportError mean?

It means that I couldn't load a python add-on for kroller.theme
If this is a regular theme and doesn't use python
extensions, than nothing is wrong.

In answer to your last question: Yes. I get a somewhat different response if I type "superkaramba" at the command line instead of "karamba" but it doesn't show up anywhere either way. It just moves klipper up and occupies a blank space on the screen. If I right-click in the area where it opened, I get the expected karamba menu, but there is nothing visible otherwise. - May 04 2003
Okay. So, I downloaded and installed superkaramba 0.2.1 today and got the latest version of RoundBar (both today). It takes up some screen real estate (I know because kicker gets moved up) but I don't actually see anything there. When I look at the command line, I see this error:

File "", line 140
'openProfile', 'webbrowsing') elif Position == 5 :
SyntaxError: invalid syntax
Failed to load a python module for RoundBar - May 04 2003
I never actually see anything. When I start it from the command line, I keep getting the following error:

NameError: global name 'kdePath' is not defined

This is with the latest version, downloaded May 2, and using super-karamba 0.17-1. - May 03 2003
