Kate Project Manager Plugin (KPMP)

Text Editors by fishdude 40 comments

I just tried the project manager plugin, and it's a nice start (ugh, and it brings back some ugly memories of losing my old project files, some with over 700 files, oh well).

I noticed that currently each folder and file has to added manually which is a bit insane ;-). An option like 'Add Existing Direcotry (recursively)', that would automatically add all subfolders & files would be really helpfull.

Add a .bashrc file into your home dir and for example to set the prompt and the default editor you can insert the following into the .bashrc file:

export PS1="\u@\h:\w\$ "
export EDITOR="kwrite"

although in kchm tabs are used for different chm files, but it would be nice if both ways worked:

1) opening different chapters from a chm in different tabs

2) opening several chm-s in different tabs - Feb 04 2006

great program :)

Could you add tabs for content window so for example different chapters could be opened in different tabs.

Would make reading a manual a lot faster.

There is also another chm viewer on this site called 'kchm' which has this feature, perhaps some code reuse is possible.

I agree, but one little annoyance is that YaKuake is still visible in Alt+Tab list allthough it's not selectable from that list and not active(on top).

Version 2.3 does not have that, in 2.3 when using the "Retract when loosing focus" policy its gone from the Alt+Tab list when it has lost is focus and is retracted.

Would it be possible to have that feature back in 2.6? Pretty please ;)
Perhaps with an option since it might not be everybodys preference.

Simply because if it's running I can use F12 to access it and don't need to be reminded of it in the Alt+Tab list. - Oct 07 2005

I've also the same problem, but with 2.4, 2.3 was working ok, but 2.4 does not even start.

installed as usual: ./configure; make; make install

Really like it, brings back good memories from childhood ;)

I've also big PLEASE ;) At the moment it seems not possible to play with another person simply behind the same screen... you know like the olden days "1 Player" and "2 Player" game ;)

It would be great on travel, a laptop would be enough to enoy it with a buddy.

I agree with systemx, it would be truly useful, if it kept records of the compiled sources and would offer uninstall functionality based on those recs. - Jan 07 2005

1) I meant to say "does not scale". When maximized on res 1024x768 the right side of the Add Editor window is not completely visible.

This seems to only happen to Add Editor window, the main window (ReadeR) maximizes just fine.

2) sorry about that, stupid me ;)

3) Tried in Konqueror and get error:

Could not start process Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'ms-its'.

Tried several chm-s with the same
result. - Dec 19 2004

it looks promising, but there seem to be little bugs...

1) First the Add Editor window does scale properly (res. 1024x768). When maximized I see only half of the buttons (Select etc.).

The name of the book could be taken automatically from the file name?! 20 000 books, did you type all book names?!

2) Add icon on toolbar does not seem to work, I can do add Dir&files etc from Edit menu or from the popup menu (appering when doing a right click on Selector), but not when clicking on the toolbar icon.

3) If adding a file and accidently clicking on OK without entering author, name & genre, I get an empty line in Selector tab, which is rather pointless. So I check&warning routine for Add Editor perhaps?!

4) chm viewing does not seem to work... I also have xchm installed, and it works fine on all my chm manuals... perhaps I'm missing something...
