The clause "except for personal use", as far as I understand it, is meant to apply only to cases in which the user who downloads the icons from Iconfactory modifies or converts it to other image formats on his own and then applies it on his own computer.

Anyhow, it's always prudent to wait for permission to convert and distribute the icons before you actually distribute them, don't you think? Silence doesn't mean consent. - Aug 03 2004

This set clearly constitutes unauthorized distribution of Iconfactory's icons. As you have clearly stated as their license: these icons "may not be disassembled, reverse-engineered or otherwise modified, in part or in whole except for personal desktop use. This includes conversion into other graphic formats such as jpeg, png, etc."

But you have converted the original icons to PNG format and distributed them without explicit permission from Iconfactory to do so. Kindly do the right thing and remove this set. - Aug 03 2004
