X.org Setup

System Software by darkstarlinuxro 48 comments

Hi fellows,

After a successful compilation of the source code I am able to run xorgtest from the sbin directory.

I installed the software in ~/bin/xorgsetup and I am having problems with the xorgsetup binary.

I got the following output message after running ./xorgsetup

============
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 156
Major opcode: 147
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 156
Major opcode: 147
Minor opcode: 3
Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
xorgsetup: ../../src/xorgprobe/lxorgdata.h:349: void LMouseData::chk() const: Assertion `d->m_lshared_valid' failed.
Aborted
============

Am I missing libraries or something? During compilation I saw also these warning messages:

============
lxorgprobe.cpp:843: warning: unused parameter 'card'
lxorgprobe.cpp:848: warning: unused parameter 'mouse'
lxorgprobe.cpp:853: warning: unused parameter 'kbd'
============

Is this the cause of my problem?
Thank you in advance. - Dec 14 2007

Look at the line:

liconloader.h:25:19: error: qlist.h: No such file or directory

This means that you are missing the qlist.h C language header.

Install its respective package and pay attention to other missing headers. That is the first step. - Dec 14 2007
Katalog (Debian Package)

Database by stromek 3 comments

Thank you very much. I am debian user and this new debian package is awesome. I never managed to install the original katalog version properly.

Still, I have a question. Katalog does not appear in my Konqueror's Services TAB. Is this a configuration problem? What should I do to manage this issue?

I know that the Katalog's catalogues location can be added to, for example, the Bookmarks TAB. But, lets say... The original is "the original" right? ;)

I would really appreciate your comments.
Thank you in advance. Regards. - Jul 05 2007
Liquid Weather ++

Karamba & Superkaramba by Matti 1797 comments

Hello developers,

Congratulations. Liquid Weather is really an amazing piece of work.

I installed it on Debian testing. In order to get the new features working I also installed the reportlab python modules.

After restarting the theme everything went fine with printing. However, I am not able to e-mail data.

I am using Icedove (thunderbird fork in Debian). I chosen Thunderbird as my e-mail client in the liquidweather configuration.

Then I ensure that /usr/bin/thunderbird -> /usr/bin/icedove through a symbolic link but the e-mail option doesn't work.

I tested with Kmail an it worked.

Can you suggest a workaround to get Icedove working?

Thank you in advance. - Apr 18 2007
KPowersave

System Software by dkukawka 157 comments

Hello everyone,

I am Debian user with a new Toshiba Satellite Laptop. I am using Linux 2.6.17-2-686 with KDE 3.5.5

I want to ask you how can we start the kpowersave application at the system startup. I think that you have a really nice job here.

However, for example, if I want to run the application I have to export my display as normal user, run the application as root and in that case kpowersave will work.

Is there any switch or options which allow a more simple way to execute kpowersave as a normal user?

For example, there is an application called netgo (to choose between several network configuration profiles) that ask for the root password at the normal user login and that is it.

I will really appreciate any comments on this. Thank you in advance.

And keep going with this cool application.
