I know this is kind of late, but this is a promising theme to say the least. One question though, does it have an emerald theme to complement it? - Sep 04 2009

Whoa! You made the glowyblue version in an instant? You're fast! I like your take on this, it's stays true to the original glowytheme series.

Can you also do glowygold? That we complete the series I think, and I'm a bigger fan of the gold theme. - Jun 07 2009

The problem with the theme is how it was archived. You used .tar, which doesn't install properly. Once extracted and manually installed on .themes folder, it works fine. I tried re-compressing the theme using .tar.gz and now it installs properly. Try archiving in .tar.gz format and reupload it. I tested it and it worked. - Jun 07 2009

GnoMenu - consolidated menu for gnome

Various Gnome Stuff by Whise 146 comments

This is a funny bug. In GnoMenu, when I click on the uninstall button in the Button selection to uninstall a Button theme, it instead uninstalls the theme selected under Icon Selection. When I click on the uninstall button under Icon Selection, guess what? It uninstalls the selected theme under Button Selection! I'm using GnoMenu 1.9, and using Ubuntu Intrepid (if that makes any difference).

If it has a fix already, great. I just want to share this funny issue. I'm enjoying it. - May 22 2009

Don't mind him. He's definitely just a flamer craving for attention. Just stick to your theme-making, and just pay attention to constructive criticisms. Guys like Whippo should just be ignored altogether. He apparently doesn't know the answer, and acts like someone who knows it all.

He's not selling it, right? And I think you missed the part where he said he's even going to password-lock the download site and just distribute to "friends" maybe? Anyway, this is one of the main reasons why a LOT of talented themers shy away from this site; because of flamers that do nothing but, well, flame others.... - May 08 2009

This is a very clean theme, and I'm digging the background you have here. This theme would be sitting in my pc as default for a long time. Good job! - Apr 02 2009

This theme is very simplistic in nature, yet stylish in its own right. So, it's not really surprising if alot of people gets to like it.

PS: Tignan mo nga naman. Di pala ako ang kaisa-isang dust user dito sa gnome-look. At least, may representante tayo sa bug-trackers. Mabuhay! Ehe! - Mar 30 2009

GnoMenu 2 Feature Request Call

GnoMenu Skins by technoshaun 11 comments

Does GnoMenu already have a built-in way to clear the recent items list, like the normal menus? I can't seem to find it here. If there ain't one, I think it would be a nice addition. - Jan 31 2009
GnoMenu 2 Feature Request Call

Can you add a custom command feature for Gnomenu2? Like a GUI for putting custom commands to GnoMenu like shortcut to icons, etc? That way, users won't have to fiddle with the GnoMenu XML or other technical stuff and simply do it through the preference menu. - Jan 15 2009

I noticed that it has a bluish tint to it. Can you make a variation of it? Like a neutral (black) tint so that it would blend well with other themes? Just a thought.... - Jan 13 2009

Very nice! It totally veered away from the vista hype and made it's own unique style. Gnomenu indeed is improving rapidly, and themes like this truly makes this project worthwhile. Thanks for the effort! - Jan 13 2009
GnoMenu 2 Concept Mockup

GnoMenu Skins by technoshaun 14 comments

But isn't GnoMenu already using the system icon? I mean, gnomenu sports the icons that I choose for the system, with no further tweaking involved. The only thing that I would like is for GnoMenu to adapt the current theme's color scheme, which I haven't seen it do yet.

Anyway, nice plans. Looking forward to a brighter concept for GnoMenu. - Dec 29 2008

I'm digging it. I kinda edited the menu options on gnomenu1 myself to show the same options here, but you made it even better, making them sport icons instead of text links. Also, I think the gnomenu team is planning on making it custom-theme aware, I suppose? That would be great, so as not to limit the gnomenu use to a small number of themes available here. - Dec 28 2008

Judging from your post, it seems you typed the command right after you opened the terminal. You would have to invoke the command after moving to the specific directory first.

cd <path to gnomenu folder/package>
sudo make install

Hope this helps. - Dec 28 2008

Never mind. I got it. I just had to run your script command right in the root shell for the icons. It's working now. Thanks. - Dec 08 2008

Well, it works for other icon themes. I mean, when I launch nautilus or thunar with root priviledges using other themes (like black and white icons or even Leopard icons), it would use the custom themes, since I also installed those icons under gnome-appearance-properties with root priviledges as well. The hydroxygen theme would in a way do the same, but it won't follow the script configuration. It would simply run those icons in the hydroxygen's default icon (those black folders), while I had mine setup to use deviantdark.

Anyway, the folders icon set is the only thing I'm checking. Aside from that everything else looks fine for superuser applications (like Synaptic). - Dec 08 2008

I also have almost the same problem. The script works fine for nautilus/thunar folder icons. But I noticed that when I open them through sudo, I still have the same default icons, and not the one I chose. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.

I'm not sure if this would help, but I noticed when I ran the rm command to remove the icon-theme.cache, the terminal prompts that the file does not exist. I checked the folders and that file indeed is not there. Any ideas? - Dec 07 2008
