So if I understand well, this is a wallpaper ? Then you should probably put it in the wallpaper category. You might get a much better rating there. I think your wallpaper is quite good. - Jan 16 2006

I have also found places with 10 or 27 branches meeting - Jul 04 2005
Hey this tool really takes fractal exploration to another level. I just noticed that it seems that everytime you have a "star" pattern in the Mandelbrot set, with branches meeting at some point, the number of branches is prime. I found points with 5,7,11 and 13 branches meeting. For example, here's a place where 13 branches meet :

X coordinate : -0.728392417954
Y coordinate : 0.240980033161
Zoom magnitude : 4.51563

Can anyone point me to a mathematical explanation for that ? Is that a known theorem ? - Jul 04 2005
I've been waiting for this for a long time ! This is an excellent application, and should definitely go into KDE !

Many kudos to the author ! - Jul 04 2005

"a license change to a GPL-compatible that is also compatible with franch laws is planned"

No, don't !!!

First, it's not at all proved that the GPL is not compatible with French law. By saying so, you give credit to the FUD that pretends that the GPL has no juridic value.

Second, the GPL is way more important than French law, so it's the French law that should adapt itself to the GPL, not the opposite. Imagine what the situation would be if every country had its own GPL-compatible license!

Third, the idea of having a French GPL-compatible license has already been pursued by the INRIA. Result : the venerable INRIA got slammed by the FSF, and their license has been a flop.

By the way, I'm French, and I live in France. - Apr 05 2005

I think I have hit a bug in komposé. I hope this bug report will help.

after a few hours running komposé without a glitch, I hit the keyboard shortcut for the standard komposé view. result : empty desktop, busy mouse cursor, stuck keyboard leds. I waited, but the komposé view would not show up, as if it had entered an infinite loop. after many tries ctrl+alt+f6 got me to a console so I tried to kill komposé, but it had no effect so I had to kill X.

sorry I can't give more precise information. Has komposé a log file somewhere?

At the moment of the problem, I was only running KDE, Komposé, Amarok and Kmail.

Here's my config :
Slackware current, custom 2.6.7 kernel, KDE 3.3.1, Xorg 6.8.1, Komposé 0.5, Nvidia 6111 driver with RenderAccel=true, geforce3, athlon xp. - Oct 18 2004
OK, sorry, I found out myself

so you've configured it by default so that Windows+Tab shows the komposé view.
thanks! - Oct 18 2004
it's a great addition to KDE that you're
making here. thanks a lot.

I would find it very convenient if I could activate the komposé view by just pressing a key (say the "Windows" key) ...

is that possible, or could you think about including that in a future release ? - Oct 18 2004

Please don't mix religon/idelogy with kde. Just imagine how bad it would be if everyone posting to kde-look.org acted this way. We'd have Keramik for Christians, Plastik for Jews, Baghira for Muslims, Active Heart for Buddhists.... - Jun 23 2004
