a style I'm developing right now. It's a port of the Qt 2/KDE 2-based "Web" style. I'm gonna commit it to kde-cvs when I'm done, and it should go into KDE 3.2 as the Web qstyle. If I have time, I'll port it back to KDE 3.1 and put it up on kde-look :)

I like subtle coloring of the insides of the buttons.. it's a nice touch that I might implement. - Jul 02 2003

uh, first, ObjectBar isn't free, last time I heard.

second, I don't think karamba's purpose is to make people switch from Windows.. It's just a versitile app for existing KDE users. - May 08 2003
From what I've taken a look at, most of the overhead in the OSX-type of SuperKaramba themes is the creation of thousands of pixmaps (QImage/QPixmap/KImgIO scaling) within the X server itself. This greatly contributes to the general large CPU usage of these kinds of themes. It'd be nice to offload it to the GPU using something like openGL/GLX, and then bitBlt() it. SuperKaramba would have to support it, of course. - May 08 2003

but i have a few suggestions..

perhaps move the browser selection to the preferences dialog.. it's a waste of space to put it in the applet display since most users wont need to go between konq and moz every time they used it.

also, put some sizeHints() in there to make sure that it resizes a bit better. perhaps look at the minicli source for that. - Jan 29 2003
I'm using gentoo btw...

i got it work, just had to:

make distclean
./configure (no prefix needed)
mkdir /usr/lib/qt3-gcc2.96
ln -s /usr/qt/3/bin/uic /usr/lib/qt3-gcc2.96/bin/uic
make install

this is a bit hackish.. current approach would be to update the admin/ dir, run autoconf && automake, but that didn't work for me.. - Jan 29 2003
doesn't compile here.. gcc 3.2, kde 3.1-final..

./configure works fine :p

I wrote kbox nearly a year ago, and haven't touched it since, but I've ported it to kde3 and gcc 3.2, fixing a few bugs in the process. I'm planning to add some metacity theme support, so look for a new version soon (hopefully by the end of this month) - Sep 22 2002
well, kbox resizes the titlebar based on how big the font is. it looks like if you don't have that particular style's font.

to fix this problem, i'd suggest that you goto the kbox settings, and uncheck "Use font specified in style". then goto the font settings in kcontrol and set a font for the titlebar.

the titlebar should be as large enough to fit the font in properly then :) - Nov 09 2001
I forgot to put in the license file. I'll do that in the next release :) - Nov 06 2001
What's the error? I can't fix it unless you tell me :-) - Nov 02 2001
oh yeah, i forgot, it should be blackbox-styles, not blackbox-themes. no such thing as themes in blackbox :-) - Nov 02 2001
yeah, 0.1 doesn't include a default style (anyone wanna make one for me? :-) )

that's why I said "please read the instructions on (you need to download some blackbox styles)."

what you need to do is untar the tarball. then stick the style file (it may be named anything, but is usually the only file in the tarball other than images that are not needed) from the tarball into the blackbox-styles directory. - Nov 02 2001
fade all but top window: possible?

I think it *might* be possible, but *very* hackishly done. In the kwin client, you would have to grab the image of non-isFocus()'d windowWrapper() objects, apply a fade to them, and then display them instead of the windowWrappers().. (or perhaps see if it accepts paintEvents() or x11-exposure events) - Jan 12 2003
