I reply to you last message here because the site refuse to send it saying "Don't spam other user" XD

So, no setting the "intLang" variable is not enough to modify the interface language, you have to use the config panel, but it will crash on OSX. I will make a patch very soon so you can use it.

Hi again :)

You can send me as many messages as you want, no problem, especially with good ideas ;)

I think that's a great idea and I'm reaaly willing to add it but I just came back from holyday and I had no time to dig into it yet.

I just found this 2 posts but I don\'t know if there is a solution for this in it:
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=78902&p=259776
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=100885&p=364103

I check that and let you know what I find ASAP.

Hello

Thank you for you translation, that's great. One thing though, html entities (like "& quote") are needed on the help message because that's an html widget but not intrepreted elsewhere, so I removed them. Could you please check I didn't make mistakes?

For the crash on OSX I'm aware of it. I filled a bug report to the vlc team and they fixed it, but the fix will be available in the next Vlc release only.

Maybe I'll patch Vlsub myself before that, because I don't know how much work they have left on the new release (I just need to remove the checkboxes).

Thank you again, bye. - Jul 12 2013

It should be in the same directory as your video file.
Does the subtitles appear in your video or nothing?
Anyway I need the log to fix it, please folow this steps ("any other problem"):

Hello kapcom

a) Correct

b) I guess I could add it as an activable option. Do you mean get the subtitles and load it without opening the window when you click on the menu or just search by hash when the window open? - May 19 2013

VLC Extensions by exebetche 816 comments

Yep, lua is unable to write the subtitles file in the same directory than your video, but I can't tell you why. Are you sure that your disk "sdb1" is not in read only access nor full? What is the format of the partition (ext, ntfs...)?
Can you also tell me if you have or not a folder "/.cache/vlc/" in your home directory? It's unable to write here neither, weird... you can do this command to check: $ ls -a ~/.cache/ | grep vlc
Anyway, if you face this kind of trouble you can switch to "Manual download" mode in configuration menu, so you get a link to download the subtitles in your browser.
I'll make a patch to avoid this kind of silent error soon. - May 18 2013

I would need the log, start vlc with this command:
$ vlc --verbose=2
do this operation again until the bug appears then create a pastebin with the output.

The default language is "All" but I recently add a language detection (it's supposed to get the language of your OS). That's why you have "English" instead. But you can also set the default language with the "Config" menu, unless you're on OS x. This menu is buggy with this OS, that will be fixed in the next release of Vlc. - May 17 2013

No, no! I was not talking about you at all!
I was referring to the message of monty123, when he asked if the script isn't suppose to find the best match by itself. In fact, it would be possible to do something like that, but that would be a fairly large amount of work and the way he asked it, I felt like I was his employee while I don't earn anythink making this script. - May 13 2013

VLC Extensions by exebetche 816 comments

There you go, I add automatic language detection (default language of your OS) so technically you don't have to configure it anymore. If you're still want to set it manually you have to edit "vlsub.lua" with a text editor and put your language code in "options" at the top of the file (see instructions here).
--> FYI the bugs on OSX has been corrected in vlc so all features should be available in the next release of Vlc.

Aside from that, every one is very welcome to report bugs and/or ask new features, but if you do please put it nicely. Don't act like if I owe you something or it should already be done, that's pissing me of (I'm referring to the previous message here).
Many thanks :) - May 13 2013

Hi,

I changed the download link to my github repository to get a zip file, as the text format seems to confuse a lot of people/create problems with the file extension and encoding.
So try to download it again and read again the installation procedure I modified it.

About the "Not responding" pop up, nothing I can do, for some reasons the research takes much longer on OS X than anywhere else and Vlc open this automatically after few seconds.

I filled bug reports about the crash on "Config" and the non closing button and someone is taking care of it (fyi it's also on osx only).

For the full automated search that's a no because it's a specific requirement of opensubtitles.org (they fear to be flooded I think). But com on, it's maybe 4 click counting launching the extension and addind subtitles, it's not that bad, right? - May 06 2013

Hi,

Try this:
1) Check you have the last version of the script
2) Check that you haven't rename the file
So the path to the file should be
/usr/share/vlc/lua/playlist/149909-playlist_youtube3.lua
or
~/.local/share/vlc/lua/playlist/149909-playlist_youtube3.lua

3) Open the debug message panel (Ctrl+M), set verbosity level: 2, filter: lua
4) Try to load you're url again
5) Check in the debug message panel that you've a message like
lua debug: Lua playlist script %path_to_the_script%'s probe() function was successful
where %path_to_the_script% is the path to you're script -cf. 2)-

@you
I've updated my script, your playlist work fine with the current version which you have if you download it from here ("download" button).
You should ask the poster at ghacks.net to indicate this url (http://addons.videolan.org/content/show.php/+Youtube+video+and+playlist+importer?content=149909) instead of the direct link to a version of the script. That way everybody can acces the latest version.
As a matter of fact I'm working on improvements right now, so.

Thanks for making me listen Janis Joplin, it brings back a lot of good memory :)

I don't have this problem, maybe the opensubtitles servers were down at this time.
Could you retry?
Have you check with your firewall off?
Is it happening with the hash method, IMDB method, both?
With all movies?

Hi,

1) Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me your problem isn't related to Vlsub or lua, but Ubuntu and ntfs.
Indeed, I tried to search this error message related to lua and I found nothing, but there's a lot of result for ubuntu and ntfs. It makes sense, since lua use build in method to access files.

To confirm, you sould try to access the file directly through terminal, like this guy:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1951262

2) There's in fact a method to search subtitles using the title of your video file:
a) just choose "search method": "IMDB ID" click on "Go"
b) Check that the title is correct (clean it up if necessary), click "ok"
c) Click on the right movie title on the research (generaly the first) then click ok
d) Click on the subtitle you want to download and click ok
Simple as that :)
