Hey that'll work great with IceWeasel! Since Debian is so anal about icon usage... - Oct 20 2006

Actually it's identical to Redhat Enterprise Linux 4's GDM, which is the point. It's a pun. You missed it. - Jun 17 2005

I think it's more of a "just because we can" as oppossed to actually wanting it to look like XP. - May 07 2005

Though on my original Ubuntu "Enterprise" splash, I changed it from blue to brown since I felt brown was Ubuntu's theme color and deviated from Bluecurve. - May 03 2005

Anti-aliasing problems. I'm working with existing Bluecurve icons and combining them, but sometimes that leaves artifacts that I notice. - Apr 22 2005

It's really just a color hack and logo switch of Redhat Enterprise 4's login screen. If I knew, say, Novel/SuSE's color scheme and had a logo to work with, maybe I could make one for SuSE. - Apr 17 2005
I don't know how to make them from scratch. This is a variation of the GDM theme for Redhat Enterprise 4. - Mar 27 2005

Hi bvc. Well I took the color values directly from Bluecurve's gtk files. My installation is Fedora Core 3.

If you want to take it and put it in the Big Pak, eventually, be my guest. If you want to edit where it's white to be light gray, then go aherad. Bluecurve's gtk files did not have an entry for every value (bg, base, fg, etc) so I had to improvise with some. - Apr 04 2005

Nevermind. I checked and the background is not part of the proprietary redhat-artwork or redhat-logos that needs to be removed if you compile the SRPMs into an enterprise Linux based on RHEL. The background was uploaded to Gnome-Look for convenience. - Mar 26 2005
You can get the wallpaper this way. I cannot post a link as I do not know of the legality of hosting Redhat official artwork. It may be free and GPL or not, who knows. But there is a free and legal way to get it.

Go here:

Download the package desktop-backgrounds-*.src.rpm

Using Archive-Manager or whatever, you can extract the default background PNG from the SRPM. That's how I got it under a non-RHEL4 (Ubuntu) system. - Mar 26 2005
