It's not well integrated with Gnome either, using a quite deep config dir at ~/.cairo-dock rather than gconf or ~/.gnome*.
Has anyone also else found it subpar? - Nov 21 2008

0.31-1 installed, and the GTK2 elements of this theme don't seem to be working. - Mar 23 2007

As for Ubuntulooks itself, I'm not crazy about it. Overall it could be described as "Glossy Butterscotch". Just too orangey.
What do others think of it? - Jun 03 2006

Nice Style too, by the way. - May 29 2006
I voted this theme down because it's not very good -- it's just borrowed cheesecake. But it's just someone's bum, and I'm fairly sure a picture of a tuckus won't ruin someone else's life or pervert their morality -- even that of the Janet-Jackson-nipplegate-scarred U.S. readers of this site. - Apr 30 2006

Along somewhat similar lines, but with a more definite concept, there is the Mezzo Desktop ( www.symphonyos.com/mezzo.html ) being developed by SymphonyOS (Linux). It has nothing to do with KDE, but it could theoretically. - Aug 19 2005

Nice wallpaper, too, eh. :D - Mar 08 2005
That's certainly arguable, but must that mean that the only response is to ape it? There must be other ways of making beautiful user interfaces, right?
There's also the "de gustibus" factor: not everyone thinks OS X is the most beautiful. I think the latest Gnome looks really nice, and it does that not by imitating something else. - Sep 27 2004

As I say, I like the Vera fonts. My only real complaint with them is that I find the glyphs too wide, for my taste. I'd like to find a narrowed version of them. - Aug 08 2004

I found that its screenshots were often obscured, especially those from desktops with multiple windows.
It also once cycled through its screenshots-taking repetitively.
I have a screenshot showing the obscured images at http://dle.ascendant.ca/tmp/kompos%E9.png .
I like Komposé and hope it continues to improve.
Thanks. - Aug 07 2004

One thought occurs to me: if a user is inexperienced enough not to know about the executable bit, giving them the option of adding it for "others" might be kind of risky. It's not likely, but still.
If it were my utility, I would remove the "expanded" part of the dialog and have it default to doing just u+x or ug+x. - Dec 21 2003

One culprit--timbrown527--has even taken to making frequent *minor* revisions (if any) of his so that they continually reappear on the front page.
Some suggestions of how you might respond:
a general notice on the site condemning the abuse and asking for better behaviour
a private note to timbrown527 and any others asking them to stop abusing kdelook, and indicating that they will be penalized in some way if they continue
create an "All but wallpapers" category and make it the default view. The street-corner preachers will be less inclined to pollute the site (with such little effort) when they know that they are reaching fewer readers
I'm sure there are other steps you could take, and you're probably already discussing some response.
I believe that if this abuse of kdelook is allowed to continue as it is, the site will lose a lot of readers and contributors, and thus become much less useful. After that it will lose its advertisers, and eventually die on the vine as themes.org did before. - Dec 15 2003

I hope Qt/KDE and GTK/Gnome can perhaps work on a common styling system.
Nonetheless, good on you for this one. - Nov 12 2003
