If you want everyusers to have them then move the folder to /usr/share/icons/

I already have Compiz, but not Emerald.
I found another solution to set the buttons on the left when using metacity:
Alt + F2 then type gconf-editor
Then on the left panel click apps - metacity - general
After that on the right pannel go to Button-Layout and change the value to:
close,maximize,minimize:menu
You can arrange the buttons the way you like, set them in the order you want separated by commas and the colon separates left side from right side. - Mar 27 2008

I have a little question though, I'm kinda new to the "tuning" your desktop thing and I don't know how to put the minimize/maximize/close buttons on the left side rather than the default right side, can you explain me how or give me a link to find the info I need please? - Mar 27 2008
