I *really* like the idea!! But you should really check out distrowatch for more.
My favourite distribution - KANOTIX - has rank 15... It was split of Knoppix at the end of 2003 (KANOTIX-X-MAS-2003-PREVIEW).
Above all could you write the comments on the table in English, please?!

Will kwlan work with wpasupplicant 0.4.8 as this version doesn't use wpa_supplicant.conf anymore but entries like wpa-key-mgmt and wpa-ssid in /etc/network/interfaces?

danone - Apr 11 2006
I manually fixed the linking problem by modfifying the generated src/Makefile, line 270,271:

# the libraries to link against.

# the libraries to link against.
kwlan_LDADD = /lib/ $(LIB_KFILE) $(LIB_KDEPRINT)

-liw is replaced by /usr/lib/libiw.a - this produced the error. Strangely enough both files belong to the same package libiw-dev...

May a configure problem? I used "configure --prefix=/usr", but executing "make" "configure" seems to be run again... Maybe that breaks something? I tried "configure --prefix=/usr --libdir=/lib" but it didn't work either.

same error with 0.2.2
what does this error message mean???
any hints??? - Mar 30 2006
no, there's only this one package called libiw28 and the devel. package libiw-dev - both with version mentioned above

danone - Mar 30 2006
I get a problem linking v. 0.2.1:
After getting compile errors (iwlib.h and wireless.h weren't there) I figured out to install libiw-dev package (Debian).
Now I get the following:

/bin/sh ../libtool --silent --mode=link --tag=CXX g++ -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -Wwrite-strings -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -Wchar-subscripts -O2 -Wformat-security -Wmissing-format-attribute -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -fno-common -o kwlan -R /usr/lib -R /usr/share/qt3/lib -R /usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/share/qt3/lib -L/usr/lib main.o kwlanview.o kwlanmainwin.o configuration.o wlanlib.o kstartsupplicantdlg.o wpa_ctrl.o kprofileconfigdlg.o kwlantraywin.o kscandlg.o keventhistorydlg.o kuserdatarequestdlg.o kwlansettingsdlg.o kwlaniface_skel.o kwlan.o kstartsupplicant.o kprofileconfig.o kscan.o keventhistory.o kuserdatarequest.o kwlansettings.o pref.moc.o kwlantraywin.moc.o -liw -lkio -lkdeprint
/usr/lib/libiw.a( In function `iw_sockets_open': multiple definition of `iw_sockets_open'
wlanlib.o:wlanlib.cpp:(.text+0x0): first defined here
/usr/bin/ld: Warning: size of symbol `iw_sockets_open' changed from 67 in wlanlib.o to 81 in /usr/lib/libiw.a(
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I tried package versions 27+28pre14-1 (testing) and 27+28pre15-1 (unstable) of libiw28 and libiw-dev... ideas?!

danone - Mar 30 2006
I would appreciate that, too. I prefer static IP at my home WLAN - dhcp sometimes needs a while to be ready...

danone - Mar 30 2006
I used checkinstall instead of make install to get a deb package...
But I'll look for that systray icon!

danone - Mar 28 2006
now that compiling works with 0.2, I see that the tray icon is just a "blank page" or something...
after all it's nice to see a wpa gui tool!!

I'm using Kanotix (Debian/SID), KDE 3.5.1 with Qt The only special konsole setting is a transparent background. But it also happens using standard black background. - Mar 22 2006
of course I know about the change of key bindings! As I wrote, the session is created (that wouldn't happen w/o the correct shortcut ;-) ) but fills with some ascii symbol as "y" or sth. before looking as usual. But this "filling" doesn't happen using the "+"-Button...
danone - Mar 22 2006
the new version 2.7.5 behaves a little buggy for me. creating a new session via the shortcut keys it first fills up with a lot of "y"s (or sth) before looking normal. it doesn't do so using the "+"-button. - Mar 21 2006
I really love yakuake! But there's one drawback: I usually close sessions via Shift+Down. But this way the command history of the associated shell isn't saved. Using the exit command it is saved. So I searched the source code and found the method "void MainWindow::slotRemoveSession()" in main_window.cpp. Does anyone know how to pass an exit command to the shell in this method before removing/closing it? Maybe via dcop? Or some system call?

compiling latest version 0.4 I get:

/usr/include/stdint.h:52: error: multiple types in one declaration
/usr/include/stdint.h:52: error: declaration does not declare anything
make: *** [cpufreqd.lo] Fehler 1

during make. Any idea?

version 0.2 has many improvements! Great work!

he uses the Kernels ACPI support. Have a look at /proc/acpi to see what's available!
danone - Jan 11 2006

happy to see your app. But I had to patch it:

diff cpudata.cpp cpudata.cpp~
< d.setSorting( QDir::Name | QDir::Reversed );
> d.setSorting( QDir::Name );

as I have directories TZ1 to TZ4 in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/ and CPU temperature is in TZ1. By using your for loop, always the last sensor is chosen. I wonder: do you only have one sensor in this dir? Maybe you should add the possibility to change the file that was guessed in the preferences... - Jan 03 2006

Your wallpaper is really great. Maybe you could make a version with the text a little smaller? Because I'd like to use it on my laptop (1280x800) and the text is just to big - maybe 3/4 or half the size?

thanks a lot!

nice to see your app evolving... Just a little bug: the tooltip function showing all the sensor values sometimes doesn't popup anymore. It seems as if it's happening after some uptime - it always worked after startup...

finally, there's a Firefox Theme that is at least using the wonderful Crystal Clear icons: Plastikfox Crystal Clear

Is there still much difference to the screenshot, except the differences between Firefox and Mozilla?

that's exactly what I've noticed meantime...

That sucks - I really want this theme for my Firefox! - Jun 24 2005
and what to do next with the unpacked jar stuff??? - Jun 24 2005
Just found this manual, but it DOESN'T WORK either...

Manually Installing Themes in Firefox from Mozilla Update
1. On the Theme's download page, click on the Install Now link.
2. A download dialog box will appear. Click Save to Disk and save the Theme's .jar file to your local disk (usually your Desktop).
3. Once the download completes, from the Firefox Tools menu, select Themes. Find the saved Theme's .jar file.
4. Drag and drop the Theme's .jar file to the Themes list. A Confirm dialog will appear. Select Okay to start the installation.
5. The Theme will be displayed in the Theme Manager.
6. Select the Theme, and restart Firefox to use that Theme. - Jun 24 2005
btw which Firefox version are you using? Me: 1.0.4 - Jun 23 2005
This is odd... How did you click on the link and what happened? If I click left, Firefox asks me whether it should save the file somewhere, or which application to open the file with. If I choose to save the file, I've "just" saved it (no entry in Theme list). If I select open (w/o choosing an app), the download window appears, the file is downloaded and nothing else happens either... - Jun 23 2005
Super icon theme! And I'm really happy you're also providing a mozilla theme. But 2 Questions:

1. how do I install the jar file?
2. can I use it for Firefox, too? (if not: could you make one for the more famous Firefox, too?)

Thank you veeeerrryyyy much!! - Jun 23 2005

first of all: really cool app!! I installed (0.51) it, as I was annoyed of all those tray icons you only need once in a while...
Another reason was: I've disabled the "handles" of kicker (looks cooler), but then original systray always shows an ugly frame around itself when hovering over it - just like your app does :-( So I patched systemtrayapplet2.cpp line 91 just by commenting this "hover feature" out ;-) Maybe you could add a configuration button for this...
Another thing: The "general" tab of the preferences cuts half off the last entry "Collapse the tray when cursor leaves" - so I don't even know if this is really the last configuration entry in this tab...
Maybe the preferences dialog shouldn't be "always on top"?!
Last but not least I'd like to recommend

of crystal svg as an alternative hide button, as it is more discreet than the blue one :-) - Mar 13 2005

happy to see such a cool app. But running make gives me:

/usr/share/qt3/bin/uic -L /usr/lib/kde3/plugins/designer -nounload -o prefalgorithmwidget.h ./prefalgorithmwidget.ui
