Which KDE style are you using? I see that you're using Crystal as your Windows Decoration, but Crystal does not provide its own Style.

I have the same problem with Firefox. Yahoo! ( is a good example. Just click any link that takes you to a news page. You will see that the background and fonts will both be white, rendering the article invisible. :)

Other than that, this is an excellent color scheme. - Jun 12 2006

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by dralgebra 541 comments

I've been using the Crystal decoration for a few months - so far it's one of the best for me. The only other deco that I like as much as this one is QNX, and it's only because I am a fan of the QNX Neutrino OS...

Now, one question. Which KDE theme do you think goes best with Crystal? I currently use Phase and like it, but I'm just wondering if you as the creator of Crystal have any other recommendation.

Thanks! Keep up the great work.

Vistesque-Mod for Lipstik

Various KDE 1.-4. Styles by bonafide 120 comments

Just so you know, lipstik-2.2 will not compile after you copy the three files over to the respective directories as instructed in your readme. You will need to add the following two lines in lipstik.h of the original lipstik package (found in the style subdir).

bool _enableVitesque;
bool _compressedMenus;

Once you do that, lipstik-2.2 compiles (and works) beautifully. :) - May 05 2006

... if you have any plans to add green to this already wonderful iconset? I have all the colours and use them with different wallpapers. I could really make great use of the green set, too.

DarkStik Orange

KDE 3 Color Schemes by dherik 3 comments

I like your Darkstik-Orange colour scheme. It's sufficiently dark but doesn't make it any harder to read text, especially with kmail. That's exactly what I need. Keep up the great work! - Jan 22 2006

I totally agree. I just downloaded FlatSVG for my newly-installed KDE 3.3.1. Just perfect. I also downloaded the "flat-extras" package for wallpapers, splash screens and what not. They are just as great... except that it would be even nicer to include the splash screen for KDE 3.3. :)

FTP by Kostko 106 comments

I've been using gFTP for as long as I've been using Linux. This KFTPGrabber program may finally become my first KDE-based FTP client.

I have a couple of questions about KFTPGrabber. First, is there a way to open KFTPGrabber with the "queue" window open? I always want it to be open, and it's rather irritating that I have to manually open it each time I run KFTPGrabber.

Second, how can I set the program so when I connect to a particular FTP site in the bookmark, the local directory will automatically change to the directory I specify in the bookmark? I have one bookmark where I set the local directory to be $HOME/download, but everytime I connect to the FTP site specified in that bookmark, the local session(s) remain as $HOME. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks! No doubt it is a great program. If I can clear those two hurdles, KFTPGrabber will become my only FTP client software.

I've only been using systemtux for half an hour, but I'm already in love with it. It blends very well with my KDE desktop! I tweaked it a bit so the "music player" icons will invoke XMMS. Thanks for making such a great applet, and making it so easy to customize it! - Nov 05 2004

Plastik for Firefox

What a masterpiece! Being a long-time Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox user, I must say this is one of the best Fx themes that I've ever seen. I love the Plastik theme/decoration, so it's really the perfect match. I installed the Crystal SVG iconset to complete the new setting. Thanks for the great work!

I've been referred to your iconset by a peer on the MozillaZine forum. I'm glad he told me about it... your iconset is a great work of art!

If I could ask you... would you be interested in creating an icon for LogJam, the standalone Linux client for LiveJournal ( I've been using it for a while and would much appreciate it if you could possibly create one.

I know it's a little off, but would you be willing to create a theme for Firefox? I've been using your wallpaper, iconset and karamba applets for a couple weeks and I really, really love them. I'd like to match my Firefox theme to this great enviornment, too.

Flat (Extras Pack)

I am really getting into your Flat stuff. I now have your iconset, colour scheme and two applets (FlatMonitor and FlatWeather) on my KDE 3.1.5 desktop. Are you planning on creating your own window decoration? If you do, I'd be one of the first to use it!

You're just incredible. Keep up the great work!!! - May 12 2004

The Korilla theme is really cool. I just switched from "Gorilla." They both rock!

The only question I have is, what "style" do you use with Korilla? I mean, if you go to KDE Control Panel --> Look & Feel --> Style, you'll see a bunch of available styles. I'm using KDE HiColor Default, but I wonder if there's anything that mathes the Korilla theme better?

thanks! - Aug 16 2003

Thanks! I downloaded and extracted it. I've been using Themer for a while, so that was no problem. I updated the theme to be compatible with the latest versions of Firebird. I am also planning on adding cut, copy and paste icons to the theme (those have been added to the "customize" menu recently). Once I'm done, I will let you know. :) - Aug 10 2003
