KDE 3.x Splash Screens by asciiwhite 20 comments

This has little to do with artwork, and is a political statement.

Also, do you have the copyrights on the charges? can you legally distribute it? give me a reason for keeping this here.

The best would be for you to remove it yourself. I surely don't want to see this space transformed in a political battlefield. - Aug 12 2004

I think your work on the slash screen is the best overall so far. Nice Kontact logo, nice splash, nice icons. Creative, professional, really, nice job.

However, the splash screen has to "match" the application style, and there are other splash screens that do this better.

The main issue here are the icons. The "simple" ones fit better then the photographic ones, but even better would be to use a more "comics" style, like the KDE styleguide recommends or even some crystal or nuovola work.

PS. Are the images distributable under the (L)GPL? - Apr 22 2004

Kontact Splash Screen

KDE 3.x Splash Screens by dave 12 comments

Dave,

Let me start stating that I love your work and I use your icons in my desktop. That said, an app icon based splash could use the default (crystal) icons. However, the default icons in Kontact do not fit well one another (yours look much better).

The crystal Todo, KNotes and News icons do not fit with their crystal conterparts. Is there something you can do about it? (Like offering replacements that fit better the crystal defaults for these icons?

Cheers,

"back of the envelope" - Kontact

I saw it.
But I would like something in the middle of the two.

Not that I decide anything. I am not a Kontact developer. :) - Apr 13 2004

I like your Kontact logo design: simple and clean, using the k + gears from KDE.

Could you create one with a different font? - Apr 13 2004

crystal-style tab icons

The current ones are ugly, you are right.
These icons are nicer. But see next post: they are not sufficient clear, they look too much like a regular window. Make them look more like a tab!
Thanks for your work! - Jun 04 2003

GTK1 Themes by CraigD 183 comments

I am using Mandrake 9.0, but ./configure is not locating GTK+ 1.2 and 2.0. Is there anything I can do to help him locate this files? BTW, I do have the devel packages for GTK+.
And the cooker RPM does not work anymore (maybe because of the texstar packages I have on my system: maybe...) Any tips? - Jan 20 2003

Do you know how to change the icons? Maybe only for the next versions of GTK?
Gnome usability has different sets of icons. Is it usable today or depends on CVS gnome-GTK?

It would be nice to have crystal icons in GTK apps too. - Nov 19 2002

Carlitus,

I would like to welcome you to Linux. I have been watching you, and I love your talented and original work.
In this GNU (new) world, you can be the designer of new desktops, not just a mod, but the default look.
Crystal started as a Conectiva linux theme, but now it is growing with KDE.
Use Linux, use KDE, Gimp, KOffice, Open Office, they are wonderfull programs! Hopefully Karbon 14 will be an option in the future for SVG (hint, hint ;).
Take a little bit of time to understand Linux. You will love it.
And keep the good work! I hope to see it in millions of desktops!

Welcome! - Nov 11 2002
