[editing css]
once a semi-colon has been typed, the auto-complete opens (good), but hitting return doesn't start a new line, it enters the first css selector in the auto-complete drop-down (not good).
In situations such as this, where a new line might be desirable, perhaps the user should have to manually select from the list, so the default behaviour for the return key remains a line feed?
There are a couple of other similar, very minor problems with auto-complete:
1. I've often found that an opening div tag fails to generate it's closing counterpart (i.e. no </div>)
2. Once the full name of an attribute has been typed, even if this matches a valid attribute name, the aut-complete drop-down closes: this means that you cannot now hit return and have Quanta automatically insert the ="" for you.
All-in-all though, Quanta is a fantastic app which gets better with every release; so, keep up the good work! - Mar 27 2005

The one comment I could make about "auto features": the tag-completion is a bit too eager to do its job. Maybe this has been addressed in 3.4? - Mar 27 2005

Concerning the setting of mimetypes automatically: this has been driving me nuts, too!! As far as I can tell, it is done simply through the naming of the various icon images - some distros like to have different names for various things, I think. Similarly, I think Mandrake picks up on different image types but SuSE (which I use) does not...requiring that to be done manually.
I would echo your request: if anyone knows of (or can write) a guide to this aspect of KDE customisation, I for one would be extremely grateful!
Thanks again for the comments...I'm working on updates! - Jan 19 2005

A number of people have commented that they think the folders are 'out of style' with the rest of the theme (obviously, I'm quite fond of them myself!) I am therefore doing a new style for these in the next update (coming soon) which will, I hope, be more in keeping with the 'soft' photorealism of the other icons.
If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions as to what sort of thing they would like to see, now is the time to let me know! - Jan 11 2005

A guaranteed way would be:
1. Copy the entire icon theme folder (~/.kde/share/icons/Cezanne) to a new location
2. Change the go.png icons to the images you want.
3. make a tar archive from the folder
4. uninstall Cezanne
5. install your customised cezanne theme from your tar archive.
That's the best I can think of, I'm afraid! - Jan 11 2005

the kmenu icon is name 'go.png' and can be found in 'apps' folder. Changing this and restarting KDE should have the desired effect.
Alternatively, if you build the theme from the script version available above you can specify whatever icon you want to use for the kmenu.
Hope that solves the problem!
...more icons coming in January!

Are you using the pre-built or unbuilt theme?
I have been playing around with the index.desktop file in an attempt to reflect the theme contents more accurately but, thinking about it, some of the changes may not be compatible with Maitre's buildset script.
Replacing the index.desktop file with the one from here:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/christopher.townson/index.desktop.tar.bz2
should resolve the problem whilst I get around properly editing the file. (This file can also be downloaded by clicking on the link above)
If the problem persists, please let me know and I'll go away and have a rethink. - Nov 10 2004

You may use these icons for either commercial or non-commercial purposes with no fee, providing the following conditions are observed:
a) I must be *clearly* credited as the original creator of these icons at an appropriate location(s) wherever they are employed, together with a link (or reference, in the case of offline media) to http://christopher.townson.biz
b) If you make any additional icons which can be considered to be part of the 'theme' or you make any alterations to icons which are currently in the theme, you must, likewise, make them freely available (preferably on this web site), together with the copyright notice detailed in paragraph (a).
[end legalese]
Phew, that's done! I like to think that, on the whole, matters such as this are all fine as long as people observe common sense and decency towards their fellow man...I am, therefore, quite happy for people to use these icons for whatever purpose as long they don't (implicitly or explicitly) attempt to claim they created them, and make it clear who did.
Vis-a-vis commercial use: if you are going to be using them for an organization that can afford to make a donation to my ailing, debt-ridden bank account, I would certainly appreciate that(:D), but I don't demand it. (Please email me at christopher at townson dot biz if you want to donate!)
------ A general message concerning copyright and icon use --------
I am not a lawyer but, as I understand things, the following applies:
For general information: because open-source 'creations' are already publicly available, they are covered under copyright law **except** where a specific alternative contract (such as that detailed above) has been explicitly entered into.
By downloading these icons from this site, you have agreed to enter into the licence contract under which I have made them available.
If you obtain these icons elsewhere (other than kde-look.org) and you don't ask me for permission to reuse them, and I think that you are attempting to abuse the spirit in which the work has been made available (i.e. it contravenes the Artistic 2.0 licence), I am within my rights to enforce standard copyright law. - Oct 13 2004

The folders started life as an attempt to produce some customised additions to Dave Brasgalla's 'World of Aqua' theme (available at http://www.iconfactory.com).
The device icons are definitely much more 'my own thing' and go for a softer, daylight-style reflection, rather than a gloss. Also, one of the purposes of Cezanne is to provide an alternative to the default, glossy 'cartoon' style of KDE.
I like the idea of 'paper' style folders. I think that could work well. I loved Everaldo's paper icons. Also Achim Vedam's avXicons (ported to WinXP by kol at http://www.studiotwentyeight.com/) do this style really well...I'll have to visit a stationery shop and stare at folders for a while!
When I have some time, I think I will have a go at reworking a folder. Results will be posted here and on my web site as soon as I get it done.
Thanks for the comments, guys. - Oct 13 2004

If you are able, perhaps you could describe in more detail why you think the folders do not fit/how they could be improved? - Oct 11 2004

I think many of the icons in this set are best are at least 48x48 (and preferably bigger), so would benefit from having a slightly different version for smaller sizes. I certainly want all the icons to be usable at resolutions used by the majority of people (i.e. 800x600 up to 1024x768)
However, I think I will have to complete the rest of the icon set before I begin to think about beginning that job!
btw: what size do you set your desktop/file manager icons? - Sep 25 2004

you could try simply changing the extension to this (.tar.bz2) or download the file again. Then, from either kde or command line, you should be able to extract as normal. - Sep 07 2004

At the moment packaging of the icons has to be done by the end user. This is fairly straightforward: you can use Maitre's "buidlset" script (available on this website) to do all the work. Just read the instructions that come with the script.
A full package of the Cezanne set will be available as soon as the set is complete, which should be in 3-4 months time. In the meantime, please feel free to distribute any packaged set you create if you wish to do so. - Aug 28 2004

1. the set is not currently complete and I tend to work on one 'type' of icon, creating them in a batch...this helps to ensure consistency and is just mentally more simple. Until the set is complete, releasing them as 'mimetype' etc enables you to simply extract them into the appropriate folder in your current theme.
2. (the main reason) until the icon set is complete, I'd rather release small packages because I have to distribute anything over 500k from my own web space, whereas kde-look will host anything under this size....this helps to ensure that I don't exceed my bandwidth limit and get charged!!
...so the reason is entirely selfish, for which I apologize. Needless, to say, as soon as I have a set which I think is full enough to constitute an entire 'theme' I will release them as a proper package ready for install.
Hope that explains it. - Aug 27 2004
