Amarok 1.x Scripts by ultramancool 51 comments

I could see it being an option in Amarok, since it controls the display of the data , but having the whitespace in the lyrics is no different than using <tables>. The data should never dictate the display. - Dec 14 2007

Amarok 1.x Scripts by ultramancool 51 comments

Could you have the script strip whitespace from the beginning (and possibly end) of the lyrics. All of the lyrics fetched have a blank line at the beginning that messes up rendering and is unnecessary. - Dec 13 2007

Works awesome. Been hoping someone would make a script like this for a while. Still having a few lyrics not showing up, but some don't even show up in a google search anyway. - Dec 03 2007

KDesktop Menu

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by rfujimoto 115 comments

Nice applet. I've been looking for something like this for a while now.

Would it be possible to have the desktop submenu show all places that show up in the sidebar of the save/open file dialogs? If files are open/saved to those places frequently enough to warrent having shortcuts then it would make sense to have access to them from that menu.

Also, if possible, could you fix the applet to take up all vertical space in the panel. As it is the buttons have about 4 pixels of dead space above them.

And last, this applet doesn't play well with vertical panels. Would it be possible to have the menus stack on top of each other, instead of being a horizontal line?

Thanks for the great work so far! - Jul 15 2006

Amarok 1.x Scripts by msan 53 comments

I'm not familiar with the limits of scripting in amarok, but would it be possible to check to see if:

*the song has changed
*the lyrics have been fetched at all (by checking the length of the lyrics)

If so, then a simple hack would be to wait X number of seconds after a song change to automatically export (if lyrics length is not 0). - Jul 12 2006

It would be nice if this script would automatically export the lyrics when they are fetched from the server. I usually just play my whole collection randomly, so its not practical to have to right click on each song and choose to export the tracks lyrics. - Jul 07 2006

>Why is this on KDE-Look?

Well, first off kde-look, kde-apps and gnome-look share some of the same content sections, so there is overlap on some areas, but kde-look had a gtk themes content section before there was a gnome-look.org, so it would be relevant anyway.

>there is a Gnome-Look.

kwin alternative resize style (Fvwm like) (patch)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by jezz 4 comments

How does this deal with corners? In the current implementation you alt-right click on part of the window and the arrow changes to reflect what corner can be resized. The opposite corner is anchored. Does this patch let you alter any corner that's bumped by the cursor? Also, how does it deal with shrinking the size? If it only takes effect once a corner has been reached it sounds like you can either not shrink a window, or else you have to release alt-RMB to keep from shrinking the window when the cursor moves back towards the center of the window? - Nov 27 2005

Fuck that. Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean that _your_ opinion is any better. Telling someone they need to leave the country because their political opinion doesn't match yours is just asinine. - Nov 15 2004

Nope, they don't. You cant take a copyrighted work and make a derivative work from it without the (new) work being copyrighted by the original party. Of course, if there are _substantial_ changes it would be different, but all you did was add bullet holes.

Therefore, these Icons would be (c)vasszoltan, and Palm (the current owners of Be's IP), even if they cared, would not have any claim to them. But IANAL applies, of course :)
--

obviously. :)

Under US Copyright law derivative works are copyright the original author/artist. In this case if the new icons are simply redrawn versions of the old icons they are (probably) considered derivative works, and therefor distributing them is (technically) in breach of US copyright law. This is the reason software development houses have clean rooms for program development. One team is allowed to look at the source material for the original application (which the company is attempting to duplicate) and they in turn _describe_ the general flow of the program to the actuall development team. This way the people who actually do the programing have never seen the original code, and the company whose app they have cloned would have a really hard time winning a copyright case against them.

To make a long description short: These icons are possibly copyright Palm, it all depends on exactly what assets they bought from Be Inc. - Apr 28 2003
