Nice work!
I had to hack the configure script to bypass the compiler check...
I use Fedora Core 4 and the GCC4.0 is patched by Redhat and seems to work well...
Anyway, Thank you for your work. - Jul 15 2005
I think it is fitting the simplicity of the splash. I wonder if there were icons, that will break the style...
Sorry, I am not a very skilled english...lack of vocabulary for describing more my thoughts ...
Thanks you for your contrib,

On the source subdirs there are style and style/config subdir:
In the style dir do:
moc -o lipstik.moc lipstik.h
And then inthe styel/config subdir do
moc -o lipstikconf.moc lipstikconf.h
return in the root sourcedir ( where ./configure is located )
redo make && make install ( normally as root if you install as system wide )
good luck,
Bretzel
P.S.: I really dunno why "moc" isn't invoked on those files...
To the Author: can you check it please ? - Dec 07 2004

Knoppix 3.x ( I know knoppix from 3.4 ) IS an UNVALUABLE tool for compting desasters expecially when Win-BLOWS and is not working anymore and to make backups of orphan data! :-) I tell you that several time I have impressed poor windows users with knoppix!!!

First thank you for your hints on patching ...
2- there is also a patch file:
"kdelibs.kdefx-kwin_shadow-3.3.0.patch"
that certainly needs the kdelibs sources, so I am really not confortable to spend a whole day compiling kdelibs...
Finally:
I have applied your patch and recompiled kwin.
compile and install went without incidents. But after restarting kde I can't see nothing different, no shadow, nor any places to enable it ... I am looking silly I know. I don't know what to do ... It has something to do with your kdelibs patch ??? ( please tell me it is not necessary :-( )
...help ? I am really dying to have this shadow dropsfx. And again about the windeco on your scrnshot ? how can I get it ?
Chears, thank you again ,

The windeco is... wonderful! again, where did you get it ?? it's your work ?
All this make me envy you :-)
At least, thank you for the shots...I am dying to have drop shadows on my desktop . I have no time to figure out how to patch/compile/error/patch_again/compile_again ...etc... .

For my taste, this is the most beautyfull icons theme design I saw.
It has smooth gradients that make it fit every where.
Thank you very much for that "fine art".
I am to download it to my workstation at work then relay it to my home computer, then install it as soon as I get home after work :-)

Why shouldn't this dialog act like all the other dialogs in KDE? To me, at least, throwing eyecandy on KDM as as pointless as throwing eyecandy on KDevelop.

I am pleased to read about KSplashManager.
I thought it was no use since KDE3.1 because of a new KControl module managing splash screen themes, but I've noticed that it does handle only themes pack with the now common "theme.index" file embeded in the archive theme. So I see that KSplashManager which is not (yet ?) a KControl module is still required to handle generic splash-screen :-) ;-)
So thank you "djworld" for your ref to KSplashManager

I am so much used to put --prefix=/usr.. I've just forgot to mention it in my message. I am glad to know it's ok now ;=-).
I don't expect any good comments about the new Splashman. I did it only to reduce project size ( num of classes and source files ) and to have an idea on what it should looks as a KControl module.
By the way, here is a good news:
One very kind programer took a look to my module source code and Makefiles and managed to execute it as a KControl module. (Yeah!) I am still waiting for the details he wants to give to me... But I also want to wait until KDE3.1 release ( mid January ) before getting into Splashman module.
Thank again Seawolf,

According to the errors, I can't see the path to the KDE include files... So it is obvious that all KDE classes will fail to compile in Splashman..
If you can tell me more about KDE3.1rc5, like if you've installed from the sources....
I am wondering why the configure script did not failed at the KDE test...
Waiting for more about your ENV,

Where are the XP looks ?
The menu isn't XP at all. ( OK, maybe OfficeXP and the tabs and buttons focus) but the rest has nothing to do with XP. The guys who said XP must be thinking about WindowBlinds themes for XP I can't see any thing else...
Or is it that everything looking good must be XP ? Oh my! hahaha!

- Original - not taken from any other themes (Billdow$ nor Linux/Enlightenment)
- Clean ( I second previous messages ) pro.
- Beautyfull make Linux XWindows KDE looks very good and UNIQUE.

I hope me too someone has the skill to code this theme!

As I said I use Mandrake 9.0.
I've installed KDE3.1RC2 and QT3.1beta2.
Excepted my sources projects, I don't have any sensitive data nor programs. So I didn't care of screwing my system. However, it seems to work (KDE3.1) even faster than KDE3.0.x. I don't want to go back to KDE3.0.4/5 ;-)
As of now that QT3.1 is released, it should be more secure to upgrade now.
KDE3.1 is very near...

This feature wasn't there before KDE3.1

I just can't say why KArchiveDirectory::copyTo(...) 'const'
isn't matched, I read the and it contains the right method prototype...
This happened to one other user ( Henrik )
on SuSE 8.1 with KDE3.1rc1
Notice my system is Mandrake 9.0, KDE3.1rc2, QT3.1beta2
No compilation problem tho...
I am sorry that it fails for a reason I really don't know ;-(
It can't be a missplaced
#include ...
However, you may add
#include into carchivehelper.cpp as well and see if it fixes the error ...
The variable mTheme IS declared 'const' so it shouldn't go into compilation troubles....
I can't say more about that error sorry ;-(
I need to know if someone got this app and compiled successfully ?

However, I've noticed that you name your tar archive with ".tar.gz" but the "gz" shouldn't be there because you're actually not compressing the archive at all. Thus this make my Splashman program to fail its installation. ;-)
Are you willing to (re-)name your archives the correct way ( as ".tar" instead of "tar.gz") if they aren't compressed ?
(hint:" tar zcvf yourpacakge.tar.gz")
...And on second thought you made me thinking about a better way to handle scplash-screens archives through Splashman program ;-)
Nice work again!

Actual:
-- PutImages(DB.currentItem);
Corrected:
-- PutImages(DB.First());
Thus, The text in the drop list is the first theme, and the images are from the last theme which is actually the current theme (cursor) from the DB object.

The program crashes because there is no pictures in freshly created [..]/ksplash/pics directory.
To prevent the program to SEGFAULT, just get a splash-theme package, then install it, then press the install button. after that KPslashman will not crash for that reason any more. I realized this bug only today while I was testing the next release ( version 0.8, with new improved auto-detect at first-time run)... If you have other questions, do not hesitate to ask

1 - Your old splashman data:
- I have to apologize to have changed the base directory...
- All you have to do now is to
cd /home/[you]/.kde[3]/share/apps/splashman_db
cp -R ~/.splashman/* .
2 - Regarding the icons, I've just finished to verify that you're right! Thus I am going to correct it and then make an other release...I think today...
