alloy.themerc should go in ${KDEDIR}/share/apps/kstyle/themes and alloy.la and alloy.so both go in ${KDEDIR}/lib/kde3/plugins/styles.

That works for my setup, but I use Gentoo, not Mandrake - May 26 2003
Korn's look when docked is strange when using this style. You can find a screenshot at http://www.sable.mcgill.ca/~bdufou1/gentoo/korn_alloy.png

Any idea on how to fix this? - May 26 2003
Try to locate the one which has a share/apps subdirectory which contains a bunch of folders named after KDE apps.

Popular KDE dirs are /usr and /opt/kde. If you use Gentoo Linux, then your kde dir should be /usr/kde/<version>. - May 26 2003

Yes, indeed, I was using a pattern. I did not know about this bug. I have tried another background and the problem disappeared. - Apr 12 2003
I get really strange visual glitches when using Karamba. It's rather difficult to explain, so I uploaded a few screenshots to http://www.sable.mcgill.ca/~bdufou1/snapshots/ (look at the right of the images). They were taken with the slickbar theme but I get very similar effects using almost every other theme that can be obtained from kde-look. The strange graphics also change when the karamba refreshes, so I get animations all the time...

I am using Gentoo, so I compiled Karamba using the ebuild that was posted on this site. I tried to recompile most of the libraries I thought could be faulty (libart_lgpl, libpng, glibc,...), I even upgraded to the latest Qt and KDE.

I can't think of anything else to try now. Has anybody experienced this too? - Apr 12 2003

... a lot for your help! - Jan 23 2003
The names of the files I am converting are rather simple (e.g. heart_green).

Here's the output from my gdb session:
----------

(gdb) run heart_green

Thanks for your help. - Jan 22 2003
Thanks for the great program, but while using it I often get files that do not have the .png extension (e.g .pnQ is a rather common one). Also, I get a lot of segmentation faults, preventing the conversion of many icons.

I am thinking that these 2 problems might be related. They remind me of the (common) mistakes that people make when manipulating char arrays. - Jan 22 2003

This is an awesome wallpaper. Please provide a scaled version of the original (1280x1024 would be great), it would be very nice of you.

Thanks,

I did not notice that this board uses HTML commands. The command line should have read:

convert -scale 16x16 <src_image> <dest_image> - Apr 28 2002
If you have ImageMagick installed, you can use "convert -scale 16x16 " (or something similar, depending on the size you want) in order to quickly rescale images. The results looks quite good, even if you enlarge the image to 64x64. - Apr 28 2002
