I realy like eyecandy animations. I hope you make a real animated style with pulsating buttons and also a pulsating carret in textboxes. Dou you know the mantis installer shipped with sonique? That's what I'm looking for my KDE-Desktop. You can get sonique only for windows at www.sonique.com. Download the sonique 2 snapshot to see the installer. Everythig is animated but still elegant. - Dec 22 2003

I forgot something: If a file was selected in the fileview there should be the options Copy, Delete, etc. Also filesize, date of change and so one would be interesting. If you have problems in coding you can always ask me. - Sep 22 2003

Good work! Im realy happy tha you made the step programming such a sidebar. Yesterday evening I tried to start something but the problem was autoconf so I stopped my efforts. It would be nice if we could have drag&drop: Drag an URL to one of the windows an a link appears. Drag it anywhere else in the bar and a textinput appears asking for the name of a new window. My one was just a hack. I think now somebody should make a real one and I think you're the right one. I think this is so usefull that it should be included in KDE. - Sep 22 2003

No, they are not context-sensitive. But it is possible to have a html-site in the Sidebar even in KDE 3.1? - Sep 21 2003

I think there is a warning message when a link pointing a local executable is clicked. But there must be a possibility to start programm without warningbecuase the webbased controllcenters make heavy use of it. - Sep 21 2003

I think there is a safety warning when a link on a website is pointing to a locale executable. You get a warning: "Are you sure want to execute the programm" or something like this. But there must be possibility to start an executable because the webbased controllcenter makes heavy use of it. - Sep 21 2003

I had the same trouble while developing the sidebar: You think have to activate "connect view" in both views. - Sep 20 2003

Yes, it is possible, read my readme: You have to split the view, load the sidebar, connect both views and freeze the left one. - Sep 20 2003

It's not important where you put in because you have to load the page by your own. Then you have to freeze the view and to save the profile maybe under another name like xp-filebrowsing. I put in in ~.sidebar so it's hidden by konqueror. What about a little webserver which could generate the page? So we could have a configuration dialog. Overkill would be a konqsidebarplugin with dnd-support, but I don't know how to make. Any tutorials for sidebarplugins out there? - Sep 20 2003

Active Desktop is more usefull on Linux than on Windows, because on nearly every
Linux-machine there is the Apache-webserver installed, so everyone can have his
personal startpage with news, ebay offers, email, icq, embedded google search,
forum notifications, wallstreet news and so on.

I think, the desktop in KDE is also drawn by Konqueor. It's an extended fileview. Why not just put a khtml-view there? - Aug 18 2002

yes, but I think it's too commercial. We need a solution that works good together with KDE and that is simple and easy to use. - Aug 18 2002

It's just a quickhack. I had the idea yesterday evening and started coding a html-page. It isn't very nice yet, because i'm not an artist. That's why I asked, if someone more talented would continue. It's viewed in Konqueror, because my version of KDE 2.2.2 does not support html-pages as background. I think, it isn't so different from windows: Windows has Active Desktop to solve such problems and WinCE has already a "today-Page" (I've seen on some screenshots from CE-Smartphones). I wanted to have such a feature on my Linux KDE. Does Konqueror support HTML-Pages as background in KDE 3.0? - Aug 18 2002
