Epiphany was a symlink; my bad. I did this to style the icon with the existing web icon, in case anyone else needs it (run while inside ~/.local/share/icons/OieIcons/scalable/apps):

ln -s applications-internet.svg web-browser.svg - May 25 2019

You can modify gtk.css to achieve this, I did so with mine. However, if you update, you will lose the changes; so keep the 'master' in /usr/share/themes/ and add any file(s) you want to customize to ~/.local/share/themes/ matching the directory structure. - May 28 2018

If you look at the manual instructions on Github, that's exactly what this does, except this script automates it. It saves an enormous amount of time when you have to do it on multiple desktops! - Apr 08 2018
If I am not mistaken, 3.26 introduces the "fix" of where the Nautilus devs remove desktop icons completely: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/01/ubuntu-18-04-lts-will-ship-older-version-nautilus

So in order for my script to work, you'd either need to be running an older version ,or downgrade the Nautilus package.

Debian is still running 3.22 - Mar 31 2018
