Hi Bear,

Well, I did not update this theme cause
I like the eye grab look.

However, you motivated me to create a different theme, still red but with less
eye strain. I used murrine engine as a base but added more pixmapping.

So, check it out and let me know what you think.

It is called Brick. - Mar 23 2010

Glad you got it all sorted out.

I've found there are at least three
different ways to come up with a computer fix and usually the last way
seems to be the easiest and best. ha ha

Hey, if you like Puppy you should try
out Slitaz over at distrowatch.com,
I think it is only around a 30mb download
and it really screams on my old IBM
thinkpad.

Perhaps then I have landed a fish or
two.

Yes, I did this theme to wake this crowd
up and thank-you for noticing and also your comments.

Now, a few things I have noticed.

You get what you vote or download.

If you want something unique, then
speak up!
OR download away.

I have never and will never vote anyone's theme down. That is just plain
biting the hand that feeds you stupid
mentality, and a very poor idea allowed
here. Probably the whole vote thing
should be abolished or modified. The abuse is too easily altered by certain unsavory characters.

How do I know? I got so mad once
that someone had downvoted a very
unique theme, not my own, I upvoted twice on different days and It thanked
me very much for my vote. The system
as it stands is flawed.

In the short time I have been submitting
themes, I have seen several extremely talented people either leave this site or stop submitting altogether and that
is a terrible blow to the whole feel
of Linux and the true freedom it delivers.

Finally, to all you great and talented
black or white themers. Your art is
beautiful, not so your color pallete. Just answer me this? Do you
watch television in black and white.
You can if you want to just mess with
settings. Give us some life. - Mar 16 2010

Thanks,
I had some similar problems when I switched from WattOS to Arch Lxde-openbox, very few themes worked,
even after adding extra gtk-engines. Solved the problem by deleting most of
the /usr/share/themes that came with the install. After that everything started behaving and looking great.

I just love the stability and performance of openbox and the warm colors of gtk2. - Mar 13 2010

Thanks, hmm.. yeah I can see at least
one big similarity that brought some
new life to an old gtk2 theme. Thank-you

Hi,
You asked for feedback and here is my
two cents worth.

When you spend so much time on working
a theme remember to present it in the
best light you can.

It looks like you might be running compiz
manager with opacity turned down. I do
not see the theme clearly.

What are you using for screenshot capture?
I have used many and now find Gimp renders shots the cleanest. Just open Gimp,
select file, select create, and click Screenshot.

I will probably sound like your mom,
clean your desktop up. I do not want
to see your full trash can, all your
desktop files, etc... It distracts the eye
from what you are really showing.

It is your show just pair it down a little,
a couple extra things thrown in are okay.

Now the good part...
Once downloaded and installed it hardly
resembles your screenshot and looks
good. the talent is there, you have to
present it in a cleaner brighter light.

I see that this is your first theme here,
keep at it, like a bull dog on bone.
the more you do, the better they will
taste. - Feb 27 2010

Fresh, Clean
Nice granite texture look.
Looks like now, I have to go
to work and make an openbox3 theme.
The slider is slightly smaller width,
but I like the look. - Feb 26 2010

Like your title bar as well. - Feb 20 2010

bubi,

I looked over metacity again and found
some inconsistencies. Changed all buttons
to 20x20 pixels and changed the theme setting to reflect this.
Found a rounded corner marked true, set it to false.

I also looked over a couple other metacity files and found some other possibilities, if this fix does not work.

I will update ColdSteel later today.

Please let me know how this works for you.

thanks - Feb 18 2010

Bubi,

Well, I can try, I don't have anything
with metacity currently running on it.
Anyway, here is my attempt.

I didn't see any button pressed option
in metacity. Openbox allows that, but
you will at least have the mouse-over.
Hopefully, it turns out good for you.
Let me know if it does not look good,
maybe we can make something better
or maybe someonelse will have some pointers. - Feb 14 2010

You might like this wallpaper, posted here: Called Imperial Carbon fiber

http://abstract.desktopnexus.com/wallpaper/257240/

It matches the window decoration and gives a pseudo transparency.

I liked it so well, I used it for my slim login background. To finish
the theme out.

By the way, great theme and thanks
for sharing. - Jan 05 2010

thanks again cb2k,

This particular look has been sloshing around in the back of my head, for a long time. I have 3 or 4 themes, sitting here, unsubmitted, I consider failed attempts at this style.

I am more than pleased with this
theme and kinda astonished this
look could come from such a small
gtk theme file. - Dec 14 2009

Toolbar and Folder icons are called

nimbus.

You can do a search, here at gnome-look.

I found them from a google search

Sorry, lost that jpg when in-house upgrading my dual/boot laptop to
Kubuntu 9.10, crashed Kubuntu and decided
to reformat to extension 4 with WattOS
installed.

I did some different searches and
Flickr had some interesting pics.

I like this one, it's not black/white
but, I bet you'll enjoy it.

Icons are called Nimbus. You can
search here at gnome-look for
specific download instructions.
Its a little more complicated download than usual. If you do
not want any nimbus gtk2 themes,
The easier way would be to search
Google for nimbus.deb or
nimbus.rpm, etc depending on your
operating system. And look for the icon package. I like the blue folders,
and the blue tool bar icons especially.

The icons on my panel are a mix of
Nimbus and nuoveXT2. - Nov 24 2009

Thanks, one of my favorites too.
Wallpaper/background can be found here:

It's called Hibernal snow.

For something real cool, if you have
compiz/fusion enabled. Select the snow
option. and.... Let it snow, Let it snow
Let it snow. It makes a nice 3-D background. - Nov 11 2009

Thanks, for the comment.

Yes, from what I observe the fonts, I use are big.

It is always a trade off with limited screen size.

Good thing, they can be
readily changed from
user preferences.

I look for a taller compact
font. That gives the user
more clickable space in
the menu. I also, go
a few sizes larger to reduce eye strain.

Engadget is a funky looking font, I readily agree. It does give me
the extra height and
the numbers are unique ie. #1 looks
different from letter L. - Oct 16 2009

Plasma Color Schemes by IamJustUs 4 comments

Yes, Sorry I didn't .tar.gz it. Yes, import works from
System Settings/Appearance/Colors/Import.
Alternately, you can just drop the file in
~/.kde/share/apps/color-schemes.

While, I'm on the subject, for those who aren't familiar,
when you click, the download link, it will bring up a page
in your browser with all the file color settings. You must
right click your mouse in the page, select "save page
as".

It will then be downloaded with the correct format.

Finally, you can do like Rasi has done, as mentioned
in the first paragraph. the "~" stands for your
own home folder, by the way and you must
select View/Show Hidden Files to find .kde if you
use the 2nd option.

These are my first contributions, although I have
been around KDE-Look, Gnome-Look, Box-Look,
a few years sampling this and that I have forgotten
the little things that us older down-loaders take
for granted.
